I'm typing through my tears as I tell you my little dog a Yorkie named Shaggy has died. He was nine years old and my friend. He was a truly remarkable dog that loved people and the small animals the kids kept, in the whole nine years I knew him he was never aggressive to anything
or anybody. He was so affectionate and loved a cuddle, he knew at least a hundred words. I miss him more than I can put in words.
He was a family dog that played with the kids since they were babies. My boys are devastated by his death after all this is the very special dog they grew up with. He ran out of the house to play with them last Friday and was hit by a car, not dying instantly we got him to the hospital, said our prayers but his injuries were too severe. It fell on me to take the decision to euthanise which I did on the advice of the vet. He was my friend and I could not stand by and see him suffer. He was the best dog and friend in the world! That's how I will remember him.
And yet nobody answered this post, I assume nobody has seen it or nobody cares.Well, let me tell you to loose a dog is like loosing a member of your own family. Shaggy was our dog and we loved him as one of our own.
Jon, at my age, I've had to bury way too many pets and each one is as heart wrenching as the one before. Losing a pet is like losing one of your children. I know the pain you're feeling and I'm so very sorry.
I will tell you that I believe with all my heart that when you leave this earth, you and Shaggy will be together again.
Thank you, Vicki I'm beginning to contemplate getting another dog. I'm looking at the possibility of getting a rescue dog what do you think?
I have a soft spot for Yorkies, Shaggy was my third. the first two were typical of their breed, feisty, cat and all intruder hating, Shaggy was different, He was not in anyway aggressive, he even played with our hamster. a very rare and special dog, a soulmate and my buddy.
The funny thing is this thread was never intended for this defunct cubit, call it a keyboard error.
I apologise to the owner of this cubit as I seem to have accidentally taken it over. Dear Froggie I do hope you're OK and the reason you don't appear to be on your pad is not through ill health or other circumstances.
I think getting a pet is an absolutely wonderful idea Jon. It will never replace Shaggy but it will touch your heart and you will love it. I have a friend that has only ever had Yorkies. They are sweet, lovable dogs.
Please post a photo of your new fur baby when you get one.
Well,l here he is a rescue pup 5 months old. He arrived just 2 weeks ago in a really sorry state, scared stiff of everything.
He has made good progress and we've managed to potty train him. He is a basenji, they have no bark.
