I have chocolate! Orange flavored with almonds! The co-op carries several varieties of healthy chocolate bars, and yesterday some came home with me!

I'm a member of the sleepless crowd tonight. Been awake since 2, but I did start at about 9, so got 5 hours before my brain switched on. I think I am going to get a batch of bread going so it will be finished before I want to get outside if the day is warm enough for any garden work. Yesterday afternoon I weeded the onion patch. They are just up enough to show me where not to put my feet.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I sleep but do not ever rest. I dream all night. My mind never stops. Doc gave me some meds for it but it doesn't help much. It's a misery. If I can't rest I'd just as soon be awake so I can get things done. I hope you are able to sleep tonight. Don't like to think of you having problems.

I could go for a chocolate bar but I'm sick right now. Have a stomach virus (I guess that's what it is) and with ulcers it just really does a number on me. Awful stomach cramps. Can't eat or drink much of anything. Worst of it is I am afraid to take any meds. My sinuses are stopping up and I have fluid gathering in my ears from that. Please say a prayer for me. I am not getting anything done in this shape.

Chocolate and orange are a good combo. My Mom loves those orange jellied slices dipped in chocolate. I put a squirt of chocolate in my coffee every morning and sometimes I also put just a little Tang podwer in it also or a dash of cinnamon. Delish! Who needs Starbucks? Hilarious!

My "garden" is starting to fill in a bit. Looks more like a garden now. I am going to give up on the green onions I planted from seed and replace them with the rest of the sweet yellow onion sets I had left over. The GO came up but they are not doing anything past that. Don't know what the problem is. I have got to transplant some more from my WS jugs. Things are starting to grow out the tops of the jugs. That can't be good. Some of them are extras I will give to a friend. One is a Trombocino squash I cannot decide where to put. I also need to up pot more seedlings from under the lights. *sigh* So much to do, so little energy. Thumb of 2011-04-29/CajuninKy/c3d9cd

You really have that bed in great shape. I like the way you have it laid out.

My hubby can't take decongestants but does take antihistamine for his allergies. The way he keeps sinus problems down is by using salt water spray and really flooding his nose several times a day. The Nettie Pot works well for this for me but he feels strangled using that so I just fill spray bottles for him. The secret is to work at getting it to go back into as much of the back of the head and top of the head as possible. I spray mine, tip my head down rapidly toward the floor and then back up and back rapidly. Work at it and try to figure the best way to make it get where it is needed. I am considering using a special tip in my water pic and spraying it to the back of my head with it. I just have to figure where to order the tip. I have to use the water pic every time I brush my teeth so might as well do my nose too. I have the recipe for the salt solution I have used since 1953 if you want it. We really couldn't make it around here without getting sinus infections if we didn't use the salt solution.

Please send me the recipe. I have a nettie pot and have not used it. I got it free in the mail from that freebie site I posted on TGP.

Free!!!! Fantastic! You are the smart one for joining that and I am a dummy for not doing it. I just didn't want to be bombarded with all sorts of junk mail, etc. I guess that was a mistake on my part.

I always boil my water to make sure it is sterile before measuring it out. 1/4 teaspoon salt to 1/2 cup of water and a pinch of baking soda. You can probably store it in a sterile pint jar and have enough to last for quite a while. I usually make up a lot for us and fill squirt bottles (Afrin or the equivalent Kroger brand that I buy when we have terrible colds and the head has gotten in bad shape. You can only use that for three days but usually it stops us from getting ear infections, etc.) I have saved for years. I make sure they are clean and dried out thoroughly before refilling them. Good luck.

Vit. C is a good natural decongestant and anti inflammatory agent. Good decongestant foods include horseradish & hot peppers in your foods.

Vicks lightly smeared on the inside of the nose will open up sinuses as will just sniffing some BenGay or other menthol stuff. When you rub a menthol cream on a muscle or joint don't wash one hand or a couple of fingers. Place those fingers under your nose and breath in deeply a few times each min. or so. That works well for me. But I'm a nut who happens to like the smell of menthol. If you have every nearly drown you probably will not be able to use a netti pot or much else that puts water into your nose.

Have you tried liquid PeptoBismol for your stomach, Cheryl? I don't get much help from the tablets but the liquid is a big help. Can you use any of the anti ulcer meds over the counter? Like Zantac, Pepcid, Tagamet, etc. I've taken 150mg. of Zantac twice a day for years when I take some anti inflammatories.

Your garden looks so nice, Cheryl. Mine consists of 2 Celebrity tomato plants and some cherry tomatoe seeds long ago sprouted in a wet towel. I need to put them in some vermiculite tomorrow and only leave a leaf showing. Hopefully they will go ahead and grow into some healthy plants. Otherwise I may buy just one Roma for eating as a snack instead of cherry tomatoes. I can't get onions to grow for me either. But I can raise dandy garlic bulbs!Need to get clumps separated and replanted soon. Or plant some sprouted cloves from last year.

GOD bless and keep each of you.

If you have to keep a watch out for your ulcer bleeding, Pepto might not be your best choice as it turns the stool dark and that will last more days than the doctors tell you. I know cause I have been there, done that.

I do take pepto and did not know that about turning the stool dark. That is interesting. I also take Prilosec every day. I am much improved tonight. God is a good God and it is nice to have praying friends. Group hug I had a few crackers and some egg salad. I also got out and puttered around this sfternoon. I got some herbs planted and a few beans. Also got the animals fed and watered and the eggs picked up.

I'm glad to hear that you are better and managed to get a few things done. I hope to get potatoes planted today, I think my daughter in law will come to be my garden helper. It's cold and windy, not below freezing, but not far above either. We'll just have to wear lots of clothes, then run back inside to warm by the woodstove with our tea. I've been out to fill the bird feeders and bring in wood. Brrrr.

Yesterday I had laundry on the line in the wind. About froze hanging it up and again taking it down. Not doing that today.

Hubby is at the men's retreat. Please remember him and all the attendees in your prayers. They have a morning and afternoon session today, and then he has the morning message at our friend's church, and travel tomorrow afternoon and Monday.

Yesterday afternoon a lady who is her mother's caregiver (5 yrs now) called. She had a ? for hubby, asked me, I couldn't help. I never met anybody who could talk for so long about anything and everything. Mostly I just said uh huh, oh, wow, while she went on and on, describing in great detail everything from her mother's health, her frustration with the doctor, costs of this and that, her visit to a relative whose husband had died, that person's house, the mess in it because that person is a horder, etc, etc. She is a nice lady, generous and helpful, but wow! I told her she needed a break, and then she described the fiasco the last time she had somebody come in to stay with her mom (while she went to visit the relative). Poor lady, I wouldn't want to trade places with her. Anyway, Judith could use some prayer, as could all who are caregivers 24/7/365.

I can understand the lady's need to talk to someone besides the person being cared for. That is why hospice has respite personnel for the caregiver of patients. I can also understand your side of it as I've had friends and relatives who will talk for hours on end about the same things day after day after day. As tho the person they called has nothing else to do that day.

I didn't know about the PeptoBismol either. Thanks for the tip.

I'm working in the yarden in spirts today. I've actually gotten a lot of small tasks done when I stop to think about it. None big but all really needed to be done asap. Like putting feed sacks down at the base of some plants after pulling out the weeds and putting bricks on them to hold them in place, fertilizing with compost tea and then dumping the compost sludge on perennials to get rid of it. There was still quite a bit of water in the pail so they got watered as well. I rescued a nice mum that was well hidden in some weeds. I knew it should be there if it hadn't been smothered or developed crown rot during the winter. I put a clematis back up on the trellis after the winds had blown it off, pulled a lot of chickweed off and out of clumps of flowers and such. I need to locate and uncover a couple more clematis that have vegetation growing over them. I know they need shade for their roots but the topd need sunlight and they aren't getting any..I still have several perennial 4 O'Clock seeds to get planted. They have been soaking for days now. May be rotten. I'll see. And the poor tomato seeds in the wet towel in a plastic baggie. If I get those seeds done today I'll be thrilled.

GOD bless and keep each of you.

Sounds like some of us have had a more productive day today than has been the norm lately. I did a lot of weeding, digging, tying, trimming, hauling, dumping, perspiring stuff today too.

That Pepto thing resulted in me having to have another lower GI!!!The doctors office just vowed it should have been out of my system and did the test to be sure things were ok. They were! GGGGGRRRR!!! I will never fall for that again. I only take Pepto now when I can't find anything else to do the trick. Hopefully my warning can save someone else the inconvenience that I was caused.

4 o'clocks are some of my favorite flowers as are hollyhocks. I had to let hubby get rid of them though as he said they were just "taking the place"! He likes his gardens clean and trim and I like mine cottage style. I figure overcrowding takes care of a lot of weeds but he wants things hoed out and neat. We cross swords occasionally but usually I let him have his way. Good help is hard to find and I don't want him quitting on me. Big Grin

You never met my dad. Rolling my eyes.

As for nose/sinus things, I have a "SinuFlo Ready Rinse" squeeze bottle. It has more force than a Neti pot and more volume per squirt than a nose spray bottle. I don't use it as much as I should.

I got the last two tomato plants planted today. That was a bit of a relief.

Check out this weather report. This is more like fall weather than spring weather. We've had screwy weather all year. I think there is no such thing as "normal" weather in the west, though. Mary would probably agree.

Do you think that the top could be prized off and the bottle refilled with salt solution? Love the comment about your dad! Rolling on the floor laughing

The potatoes are planted! 22 of them, 3 different varities. And the lawn (ha, miscellaneous grass and weeds) is mowed for the first time this year. Some of it was about ready to form seed heads! Well, not really, but it was getting pretty tall. And it is full of sweet smelling little violets. I need to do so many things in so many places!

The morning was cold and windy, so I told my son to tell Debbie not to come out. They have remodeling projects they need to do and things usually go faster with a helper. About noon the wind diminished significantly, so I planted and mowed. It's that time of year, nothing is predictable except unpredictability!

Kelli, that weather report sounds a lot like our summer weather if you add 15-20 degrees to it. In a month ours will sound like yours did today. I would like to have a weather station. The official weather station is near the airport, over the hills and in a valley where they do a lot of irrigating for a much longer time than we do up here in the hills. So, their weather is a bit different, and the humidity at the airport might be 10% but we know it is much less here if our irrigation season is over. The water table down there (near the weather station) is high because it is in a valley with a river and all that irrigation. They have drainage ditches there!

Thanks for that info. If it is more powerful in the flow, it might be worth the money to buy a bottle and then use it for refilling. I still want to try the water pic if I can get the attachment. I have a water pic that isn't the brand that my daughter plans to get on the advice of her doctor. The one she is getting has the nose attachment. I have to do a bit more investigating to see if a nose tip will fit on mine. There always seems to be something to be investigating these days. Anyone else ever notice that?

EvaMae, the daffodills you sent me 7 or 8 years ago are in bloom. Pale yellow centers with sort of ivory petals behind them. I kept them separate from my others so I would know which ones came from you.

Calm and sunny here today. What a relief from all that cold wind. The weather forecast says 60 today! Oh yes!

I've been watching a red fox hunting mice in the neighbor's field. And earlier I saw our resident pair of Chinese pheasants. Hope the pheasants can nest and raise their babies safely, they seem to come from over the hill in a neighbor's field. He was disking and planting last week, but the field has rocky, brushy areas that would be perfect for hiding a nest.

Saw the baby owl again this morning. I'll try to get a picture if I see him later.

Mary, I'm so glad to hear the daffs are doing well, Mary. I think I know which ones you are talking about.

It has rained all afternoon here. And gotten cool again. I wonder if summer will ever come here this year.

I need to get to bed. My back is stiff from muscle cramps, spasms, etc. brought on by the bone growth stimulator. I took some meds to help relax the muscles. When I get really tired or over do it happens too. Part of the recovering process I suppose.

GOD bless and keep each of them. Group hug
