Where summer is winter
This is a state park dedicated to the state flower. These pictures were taken in April 2008, which was one of the better years. The number of flowers varies from year to year depending on the quantity and timing of the rain. This area is basically a desert.

The blue flowers are lupines and the yellow ones are goldfields.

As I recall, these blue ones are phacelia.

The flowers are closed up because it was so windy. The white flowers are called cream cups. They are another kind of poppy.

Wow!!! That is incredible! Thanks for sharing them, Kelli.
Blessed are the cracked; for it is they who let in the light.

Those pictures are unreal. I have never seen wildflowers blooming quite to that extent. I remember seeing beautiful red poppies blooming in Greece that were visible up on the hillsides but the terrain was so rocky in the area I saw that there weren't nearly that many flowers. Thanks for sharing those pictures with us Kelli.
