decorating forum: Gourd Contest Entry

| OK, I was busy and threw a couple gourds together today. I made 2 one poinsettia ornament and a snowman ornament. The poinsettia is a free hand drawing that is painted and the snowman is free hand drawn and the yarn is a braided yarn scarf and yarn pom pom whimsical hair and hat. The nose is a bit off but you know snowmen are made by people who`s hands are nearly forzen by the time they are putting on the eyes and nose. LOL! So here they are a set of 2 Christmas ornaments. I want to say thanks to Gourd for having the contest because even if I don`t win my greatest gift is to have someone get me to paint something after 14 years of Not painting any crafts. I quit painting after having my son 14 years ago and was afraid I might be out of practice. I`m relieved to find out I can still draw ok and will need some practice since my brush skills were a little off. I managed to make these two gourds today and I`m glad to be able to share them. Karen   Edited: I thought these pictures were better. The flash seems to distort the details or make light places like on the eye of the snowman. |

Very pretty, Karen...I made a snow man something like yours...except I used some real twigs for arms...and put a piece of dowel into a pencil sharpener for a nose. Jo  |

| I erased the pencil marks on the snowman`s face so I`ll need another picture. I might paint a third one. Lets see how it goes. Then I`m assuming I need to pick one gourd for the contest by November 1st. Karen |

| Oh, I think they are lovely, The flowers are great too. I'm glad you posted them and joined in.. The nose on the snow man came out great, like it is really standing out there! Very nice.. You will have to choose one though.. it will be difficult for you to pick one. A. |

I made a mess too. Now,I have three hand drawn and painted gourds.  I decided on the one in the middle. This is a Christmas ornament.  It has a irregular area that I decided looked like a snowdrift. I used a paint pen to draw the outlines.  And this is it! Karen  |

| Well, I think I should do a "final touch" to this one. My very last picture will the The Contest Entry and I`ll edit and place it first in the first post to make it easy to find. Karen P.S. I didn`t know when I started I`d end up painting 3 gourds. LOL! I was nervous about 1 much less 3? Gourds must be like eating potato chips.You can never decorate just one.  Karen |

| lol.. yes they are like potato chips,... wait till you grow them and start using your own, or maybe they are from your crop for all I know. They are addicting too. |

| Two of my best friends out here in AZ were made because I saw gourds growing in their yards...now we are all members of our own gourd society...The Gourmet' Gourders. I just saw another yard with gourds growing and called my dog groomer to find out her name so I could invite her to our group. Jo My name is Betty Jo and I love gourds..... |
