Okay, I made it here! I am back into growing my gourds after being attacked by Hurricane Rita and Ike. I finally got my tree debris all cleaned up,burned, and now have the room to grow my gourds..lol..Been a long few years of not being able to plant between hurricanes..lol..
I am looking for some gourd seeds to the African wine kettle and the big bushel ones..I lost those 2 to Rita when she blew thru here...lol..let me know and I can see what i can trade for those seeds...I planted some seeds to the 3 foot dippers and will see how those come out..lol..only had 6 of them left.
I posted to you on one of your other posts...and I am glad to see you here...and back in the gourd business....now...I have the Bushel Basket size gourd seeds..and can get the BIG gourds (as I call them) so will be glad to share with you. Jo
Oh goody!
I am glad to be back to growing stuff!! Couldnt with all the tree debris in the way and we burn burn and burn pine..sold all the oak, pecan and maple wood for firewood. I just have some left for my bonfire when I do my plant gathering here at my house in the future.
I am really looking forward to getting my seed started. thanks to Jo I get a second chance at growing the bigggggg Gourds this year. Hoefully our weather will permit. I am making sure that this year my gourd field is close to water.
Hi,Jo!! I got my seeds in the mail and will be planting them soon as I get home from a plantswap I attended in Jacksonville. So THANK YOU!!!! I will be posting pics soon as they come up..
I tried growing gourds once and the vines dried up before I got any fruit. I too love the apple one, have some seeds here, so that will be one of my projects for next spring. Better start making myself a list as my mind does manage to go blank often. Maybe I didn't give them enough water, better start reading more about them. Thanks for this cubit, it is going to help me a lot.
I guess not watering enough was my problem, should have checked into that before I started the seeds. Now that I know better maybe, just maybe, I'll do a better job. Time will tell.
