I know that some of you have been battling the weather and therefore may not have your gourd seeds in the ground. But I sure would like to hear from you on what you are managing to get started in your gardens in the gourd way.

A little time has passed and some of us are experiencing better weather so let me hear from you on how your garden has fared.

We have had to relocate and rearrange our planting area so we have not put anything in the ground. Marti has been relocating some of her bulbs and building raised planter beds. We are going to build stilts to set the beds on so we don't have to get on the ground or bend our weakening backs. Once they are finished (probably next Spring) we are going to plant squash, tomatoes, some corn and herbs, to start. She is going to build me a trellis (of sorts) so I can grow some of my gourds.

Waiting to hear from you is

LaVonne,
I bought some cool looking gourds and pumpkins after Halloween last year and they are dry enough now I think I can use their seeds. . I have a warty pumpkin, an apple gourd, snake gourds and packaged seeds for bushel basket, swan, dipper, and cave man club. I'll grow them on the supports to my shade house that no longer has shade cloth. Maybe they'll grow over the top?
You offered to do a rain dance. We could sure use it. The wind is blowing so hard i can't even water. All the storms have gone north and south over us, just splitting around us every time. We are 4" low for the year already. Temps will be in the 90s all this week, with 30-40mph winds.
I hope to save seeds this year, so if you set up a seed swap I'll send all I can!

I am sorry that the weather has not been friendly to you. We are over our quota for water needs this year. We have had so much rain its not funny. In the north and east (mostly) of Kentucky we have had devastating flooding with the rains.

I wish I could send you all our extra and then some. I know that Kansas (the dust bowl) usually has its long dry spells and that makes it difficult for things to grow. I pray that the winds slow down, and bring the rain your way...and soon.

Until more of our members start coming back to post I don't see a seed swap happening. All our members have had their share of ill health, and bad weather...I guess it is the year for it. I know that some are trying to get their gardens planted so we shall see.

Gentle rains your way

I do feel for the people with too much water. There's not much you can do about that. At least I can water my plants and save them.

Our worldwide weather has been changing. Nationally, our States have suffered changes also. Rain so heavy we have floods that devastate the land and loss of homes, even deaths. Tornadoes destroying towns and more deaths and no one knows how what to expect next.

I wish that the weather would be kinder and more normal.

I pray that my fellow family members across get through this negative weather cycle and we can all enjoy better times.

Hi...first off...I love your new picture!!

We are finally getting a little rain...and true to it's custom, monsoon showed up with rain yesterday...but it was between happenings (after the parade and before the music and stuff in the park).

I'm not growing anything this year except 2 bags of up-side-down tomato thingies.

I belong to freecycle and today a lady offered a keyboard...I wasn't interested in the keyboard but her username did interest me: Gourdgem. I wrote and invited her to join our Gourmet' Gourders...she is happy too. NEW BLOOD...Jo

Hopefully she will find our cubit and also many more here to join.

I am not growing anything this year either....we have spent the time relocating plants and creating beds that will be easier for me to take care of....Marti is moving back to California. She got an offer she couldn't refuse. I will miss her.
