To Every Thing There Is A Season

The universe, and our little corner of it, follows its own sure rhythm; the term "phenology" refers to the study of events that occur in their own timing, such as geese flying south for the winter, the first leaves popping out on the trees in the spring, fish spawning, certain flowers blooming.

This is a place to share your observations of the world around you on a month-by-month basis; please don't forget to include your zone/location. Specifically looking for these events is an excellent way to become more observant of the natural world, stay in tune with the seasons and plan such activities as seed planting, when to watch for insect pests, and even predict the weather.

Each moment of the year has its own beauty... a picture which was never seen before and which shall never be seen again.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
