Hi -- I'm so glad you found us! This space is all about getting "back to nature." I'm fortunate to live in a huge "greenspace" known as the Michigan Upper Peninsula, where you have to work harder to get away from the woods, water and wildlife than to find it, since only about 310,000 people live in this area of some 16,500 square miles. No matter where you live, though, it's possible to create your own refuge.

Hi Sandy,
We have many of the same interests as well. I love the area that you live in! We travel through upper Michigan every year to vacation on Mackinac Island. Very scenic views up your way. We vacationed in the U.P. as well, but my memory is drawing a blank as far as remembering the nearest town's name. I'll remember as soon as I look at a map, I'm sure!
Good luck with your great cubit. I'm sure I'll visit often. I tip my hat to you.

Hello Sandy!

Came to visit when I saw the cubit was green spaces. You wil be hard pressed to find a patch of green grass growing in my yard, but you will find trees, leaves scattered on the ground that will stay there until Mother Nature decomposes them.

I have fits and fuss when I find my flowering pots all dug up from the squirrels, but wouldn't get them up for anything. They bring joy and laughter to my life with their antics.

Good to "see" you here, Chelle -- most people don't even know the UP exists, much less have been there! It really is a well-kept secret and beautiful all year around (at least if you enjoy snow for half of the year or so). Lots of waterfalls, streams, forests, and, of course, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. I was raised in the lower peninsula but have been here since the early 70's so I think that makes me pretty much an official "Yooper" now.

Star - great to "see" you here as well! I think it was on your site - was it? I've looked at so many the last couple of days-- with the shade garden with (I think) hostas and other stuff growing among the trees. That is what I would like to do, but will definitely need to grow something the deer don't like, they even eat my hostas right by the house. I agree about the squirrels, we used to try all sorts of things to keep them out of the bird feeders, now I just buy more seed! As long as they stay out of my house they can hang out around here.

Sandy,
I still have not come up with the name of the place we stayed up there, but it was when I was a kid and that was a few years ago, lol! My brother and I had a great time following bear(?) tracks in the snow! Of course my mom had NO idea we were doing that! We were by the western edge of Lake Michigan and we found a great piece of driftwood that looked just like a rather round shaped hunting knife and we used it to "hunt" the bear. LOL Kids!

Hi, Sandy just popped in to say Hello from Lake Erie area. I tip my hat to you.

Been hopping back and forth between cubits, sometimes I fell so over whelmed and I am in seed starting mode. To much to do and so little time. Will be adding you to my watch list.

Hi Chris, thanks for stopping by -- I know exactly what you mean, I need at least a week's vacation right now, trying to go in too many directions! Once things settle down I have so many cubits that I want to participate in!

Sandy, It should help a bit. Judging from my cubit, today's traffic is not brisk. Blinking

Very true, most of the cubits I belong to have been quite quiet -- in fact, some of them pretty much seem to have been abandoned! Sad

On the other hand, new ones are opening up all the time!

This is a busy back to school week. It's also a big vacation week. in my area that really hot weather was keeping people inside at their computers. Now they are outside trying to get something done in these more pleasant temps.
