The new season will start in just a couple of weeks (February 23rd). Hooray! Gwen's out and Christina's back in. I've missed her. Here's a video of her singing with A Great Big World. This song was performed for the first time on The Voice. I wasn't that impressed the first time I heard it, but I've grown to love the song.
Yay! Can't wait! So glad that Gwen's gone....did anyone watch the grammys? As usual, loved Adam singing...Gwen's singing was okay....but she is really ODD.
And......glad I watched the grammys to find out who all the people are that I don't know....Sam Smith, "Stay With Me"...I think that is one of those pieces of music that I would / will listen to over and over until I get sick of it....
It starts tomorrow night with a 2-hour episode and continues on Tuesday night with another 2-hour episode. American Idol is on Wednesday and Thursday nights (one hour for each episode), so some of us will be watching singing competitions for six hours this week. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also one of the few that miss Nashville Star.
Well, the shorts he wore were so strange....
and I suppose it was online where I saw the 'sideways' looks he was giving Taylor Swift...maybe she was a bit over the top in enthusiasm...real or put on, I don't know, but he was giving her disapproving looks. The whole Kanye West thing as though the whole world is about him left me with a bad taste and I somehow don't think I want to watch the grammys again.
Well, the first show was a lot of fun. Lots of good talent and even the ones who didn't make it through were given compliments and good advice. I had forgotten what a pleasure it is to watch a panel of judges or coaches where no one annoys me. It's also nice that they've cut down on the number of sad backstories. In some of the earlier seasons, it almost seemed that a sad story was a prerequisite for an audition.
Yes, please get rid of the sad tales....last night was great, enjoyed having Christina back. Adam has no team yet, but OTH, there really wasn't anyone who quite fit into his area rather than someone else's. I think a lot of people like to go with Blake because he puts them to work, one way or another. Looking forward to tonight...already have faves, of course, but I think I must try not to since my favorites seem to be cursed......lol...
I agree. They certainly deserved all four. I know that the guy who sang the James Brown song in the first audition didn't do anything unique with the song and probably will be cut early for lack of originality and versatility, but I was grinning from ear to ear all through his performance. What a great performer!
All 12 of the top 12 guys on American Idol will be singing tonight in one hour, leaving the judges less time for their usually inane comments. I'm looking forward to it.
Yes, he was fantastic, but again, nothing original there...perhaps those same talents can be put to use in other numbers. It has seemed to me, with this last season, and this beginning, that there is a lot of hype and excitement with 4 chair turns right away in the program to get everyone jazzed...perhaps my imagination.
The show seems to draw better and better people each year. I don't watch the other programs, so it's possible that they do also...maybe there are just more and more people exposed to the idea of auditioning.
