I walked into the kitchen at 8:30 and realized I was recording stupid "Gotham" instead of "The Voice." I got so used to recording reality competition shows on Fox, I guess. Anyway, I switched to NBC right away and I'll have to catch the first half-hour on the Web tomorrow.
I was puzzled when the judges were surprised Jordan wasn't female. He never sounded like anything but a guy to me.
Gwen didn't bother me as much either but I really don't like the haircut. It was constantly calling attention to her and that drives me nuts....
I thought Jordan was a girl too but love him - he could go really far with that voice....
I thought Jordan was a guy, but then...I was watching him, so.....an incredibly beautiful, effortless voice. It will be very interestinjg to see how it goes for him.....and already I can't wait for tonight...lol...
In last season's thread for American Idol, a Cubits member had this to report:
"I just stumbled on this cubit but I have to tell ya'll that things are not as they appear all the time on these shows. My nephew is a music professor at USA and one of his students was on Idol this season, so I recorded it to see her. She got a ticket to Hollywood, then the next thing we heard, J Lo had taken her out of the competition, told her she would win hands down and she was better than "Idol". She has some of her people working with her and she is going to be on the Voice next season."
I asked for the girl's name so we could watch for her on The Voice, and the member said her name is Erica Washington. I still think it's strange that JLo would work for "the competition" in that way, sending a potential winner to another show.
I found this on YouTube. She really does have a remarkable voice.
Yes, great voice, but somehow I always end up comparing anyone who does that number to Whitney and I always find Whitney's version so much more powerful...I will look forward to hearing more from Erica Washington, need to see if there's more online from her. Thanks.....
Gwen is insufferable! Why does she insist on telling us that she was in a band at 17 on every show? Is there any rock & roll singer who wasn't in a band at 17? Even I was in a band at 17. It never got anywhere, but I can still make the statement, which isn't all that impressive, especially after hearing from some of the back stories that some of these contestants were in a band at 15, or even at 12.
yeah, that is a bit much...but she still does not annoy me like last year..do you think I'm 'mellowing'? Just compare her to JLo and think how you'd feel if told JLo would next be on The Voice......?
I think she has to say that because maybe a lot of these young people may not even know who she is / was....I'm old enough and I never paid attention to her...okay, so I'm still not familiar with 'Ska'.......did I miss much?
You missed nothing. I bought one No Doubt album and listened to it only once.
She is easier to take than JLo, but who isn't? Well, maybe Miley Cyrus.
It's just that Gwen keeps repeating that fact as if it's a great accomplishment or something unique, and it isn't. She also keeps repeating that all of the songs she writes "speak to the heart." Whose heart is she reaching with these lyrics?
Oh, this my shit, this my shit [4x]
Let me hear you say this shit is bananas
(This shit is bananas)
This shit is bananas
(This shit is bananas)
I feel the same way, although there is at least one more week of auditions, so you never know.
We haven't seen Erica Washington yet, and she wasn't shown in the previews for next week, so she might not be trying out. I wonder if JLo's "people" just offered her a contract instead of sending her to The Voice.
I almost choked tonight when Adam bragged about his ability to choose the right songs for the people on his team. I distinctly remember several times when we blamed Adam's song choice for the downfall of a contender.
