Are you dressed all the way to your shoes? Have you had breakfast?

Let's start the day prepared. What could be worse than running to hide when your neighbor comes to the door unexpectedly? Why do we wait to the last minute to get dressed?

There's every excuse in the world. Most often, we just think that we don't have time. Really, all it takes is a bit of re-prioritizing. A trick that I have learned is to have my clothes picked out the night before. Then, all I have to do is grab them up when I head for the bathroom each morning and put them on!

It's a great feeling to be dressed first thing in the day! You are prepared for almost anything!

Now, go eat a good breakfast!

Feel free to add your comments. This is our challenge for the entire month of March. Let's see how many days this month we can all arrive at our computers fully clothed - with shoes on!

That's the challenge? I have to dress first? My goal for March:
Upon arising, make coffee . . or not
Exercise or yoga
Eat breakfast; take meds
Read Bible
Some nice spa thing, like body lotion after shower or a facial
Shower & Dress
Ck into my favorite websites
Plan healthy food for the day
Then to my regular job

This morning, I was bad....came straight here to catch up on reading; coffee pot was a challenge and took an hour of my time trying to fix it and I am still not dressed.
* * * making excuses for myself but I am also getting over the flue * * *

Yes! Getting dressed to shoes IS the challenge for March. Somehow, getting dressed alerts your brain that it's time to get moving! I don't know how that happens. It just happens.

I was sick over the weekend, too. It's taking more of my time today to get through what I need to get through. Some of the dishes from last night, for example, were still in the sink when I went to wash the breakfast ones! So it's slow going today for me.

The important thing is that you're thinking of creating a habit, and you've outlined what you want to do. That's a big step! Just take one, like getting dressed every morning, and keep working on it over and over until it's habit. It takes about three or four weeks for something to become habit. Don't get discouraged. Together, we can do it!

Way to go, Vic!
I was afraid to eat too much for breakfast this morning, so all I had was two pieces of store-bought whole wheat toast, Smart Balance margarine, and orange juice.

Thankfully, it stayed down, and I wasn't 'rumbling' like I was all weekend! I know, Too Much Information!
Rolling my eyes.

Lee Anne:

I am rolling on the floor. Like a good mom, I should remind you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In all seriousness, though, your body has to fuel itself early in the day, or it goes into 'survival mode', meaning that it thinks it's starving, so it shuts down those receptors that let you know you are hungry.

Eating breakfast, even when you don't feel hungry, gets your metabolism boosted, and sends the energy coursing through your body.

So, if you can manage to just choke down a piece of toast and a glass of juice at first, you've taken the first step.

Later, you'll be able to add more foods to your breakfast, with more fiber in it as well, to carry you through the day.

So tomorrow, add a bit of food to chew on while you are sipping your coffee, OK?

That's better than nothing.

In all honesty, I used to be the same way. I was in such a hurry to begin my day every day, and to get it over with. For the life of me, I don't know why. I guess I hadn't yet learned to slow down and listen to the world around me.

And, I hated the thought of food in the morning! Ugh! I would pound down coffee cup after coffee cup until all of a sudden it was lunchtime and I was famished! You can probably guess what happened. My health went down and my weight went up. That's what happened to me.

So, Lee Anne, I'll be the first to tell you that you're not alone in this. I/m sure that there are many, many more just like us. All it takes now is just a little bit of effort to turn things around. Our minds and our bodies will be much healthier for it.

Of course you can play, AnnMarie.

So far, yes. All you have to do it be dressed to your shoes and make sure you have breakfast. then, in the "All Around the House" forum, we have a special mission posted for that day. You can also add your comments to the daily thread in this forum.

I'd love it if you would come play with us!!

well, I did get up this morning, AND actually made the bed, had coffee and got dressed (no shoes, I dont wear shoes if I dont have to!) so, got my slippers on. Then I cleaned the bathrooms, did breakfast dishes and wiped down counters. Finally got on the computer at about 10am! LOL!

I have lots of data entry today, so its gonna be another crock pot night for dinner LOL Big Grin
