Ever wanted to write your own gardening book or cookbook? Now you can with print on demand publishing. There are several companies offering this service at very reasonable prices. Some of the companies do not charge you until merchandise sells. You have the choice of offering e-books (electronic books with an instant download) or printed and bound editions of your book. Here are some of the companies offering this service for you to get started.

*NOTE: I try to list companies that have no out of pocket expense so there are no upfront fees. There are times when policy does change. Let me know if you find one of these listings charging a set-up fee and I will remove that listing.

These two will get you started. I will have more soon.

jar617 - thank you for your informatin bout self publishng conmpanies. when my wife debbie wrote her cookbook i checked out a host of self publishng companies although i don't remember the two you have above. all the ones i check out had fees and we decided to go with iuniverse. it cost more than four thousand dollars in all but we realized that while she could write the book that marketing it would not be right for us. with iuniverfse not only do they care of editing and even give what they feel is the correct grammer or wording to best promote the book.

they also privided the marketing for the book. it goes onto the barnes and nobel, borders websites. it also goes to (i beleive it called e books) where a person can download it. the book is also sold on their own website. it is also on amazon.com

like i said, it's a bit expensive but i think it was worth it. they were extremely helpful at every level.

for those thinking of writing a cookbook there is a lot more than just writing recipes as we found out.

here is a picture of the cover of her book. i don't know if this is the hard copy or soft.

Wow, what an experience. Have you sold enough copies through their marketing efforts to deem it worthy of going that route, then? That is fantastic!

On Amazon huh? I have to check it out.

thanks

the book has not been published yet. the package we purchased has them checking every single word and all the grammer and even if it is the correct way to say something. for instance deb wrote a recipe and mentioned hunts tomato sauce. they came back that in some states they might not have that brand so she had to just use tomato sauce. also, if in one recipe you use tbs (tablespoon) then it has to be that way all the time for every recipe because sometimes she had tbls.

deb just sent in the last and final changes. next up they will send her both a hard copy and soft copy of the book. she hasto go thrugh them and make sure everything is the way she wants it. when she tells them o.k. then then print the book.

she has been at this for over a year now
