Hello, my name is Starr and I freely admit that I am addict...
I used to fuel this addiction by hanging out at DG, but due to forces beyond my control (illness in my family) I was I not able to be present at DG for quite awhile ... I received an invite to come here, so I came.. and I see old friends here... and I see faces/names new to me. I am pleased to meet y'all and look forward to happy chats and learning lots...
did anyone say spring?
Blessed are the cracked; for it is they who let in the light.
Da love Rat that is the good thing about this site Dave cannot boot someone in a cubit owned by someone else. The owner would have to boot them. Anyone ejected from Daves can be invited here.
Hello I am Cindy I hang out mostly in the midsouth cubit but love the Iris'. Definitely would like to add more Louisiana Iris and Japanese. Will be watching for Co-opsGlad to see so many familiar faces here.
It's so great to see so many familiar names here! I'm Judy and am totally addicted to irises. Thankfully, we live on a farm and I have lots of room to expand as needed. My passion began in 2003 when I became aware of an iris farm only a few miles from me. I bought a dozen rhizomes from him and then in 2005 discovered DG (mainly a lurker), where Wanda & Mitt helped a "newbie" become quickly addicted. Then it was on to Dee and other growers. Needless to say, it has become a passion.
Susan...it is so good to see you here and looking great! Loved your slide show.
Oh, Brandy, are you in trouble. You will see various median irises, and tons of TB iris that bloom early season to late. The TBs extend the beginning of the season. Some won't work for you as they need a chill, but some will.
We'll have trades, and group buys, and I'm sure someone will trade medians for TBs, so you can extend the season.
Between the bearded and the beardless irises I have bloom from spring to fall, with very short laps in between.
Even TBs can have a bloom time throughout the season. For your area I would reccommend Winterberry gardens 1225 Reynolds Rd. Cross Junction VA 226255. Write for a catalog.Mature iris clumps whould bloom for 2-3 weeks. Of course you have other plants in the garden? Strange.
Yes, Brandy. Winterberry Gardens would be an excellent source for you. They only have a print catalogue, not a website.
But here's how to reach them, if you're not familiar with them. They carry all sorts of bearded irises, from the teeny tiny early ones to the TBs, and I think they tell which season they bloom, like early, mid, late.
See I told you that you would get in trouble here with us.
No idea what happened Anita. Dee and I are the only ones who can remove a post, other than yourself, and we wouldn't remove yours Actually I don't see us removing anyones post, but we reserve the right.....
