Hi, I'm Mary and I live in Southeastern Pa, the warmest part of Zone 6. I grow everything!! Polly has been helping me expand my appreciation and knowlege of Irises. I have a penchant for SDB's and have just recently, with Polly's help, ventured into Japanese Iris. I also grow TB's and Siberian Iris. I suspect that my next love will be Louisiana Irises.

Great job in organizing the Forum, Polly. I have just started the MidAtlantic Musings.

Well, you all came over here to introduce yourselves after I did it in the welcome thread, so I guess I'll repeat myself here:

I live in Northern California, which is a paradise for bearded irises. All of the growing guides say they don't do well above zone 8, but gardeners here in zones 9 and 10 grow them. Even vacant lots and completely untended gardens here usually have lots of bearded irises blooming like crazy from April to June, followed by a less prominent show in September or October.

I am now primarily a rose gardener, but I started out with a passion for irises. My garden was full of them and I decided to plant a few roses to relieve the boredom when iris season was over. Now I have more than 1500 rose bushes and the poor irises have to live in whatever space is left between the roses. My favorites are the Pacific Coast Hybrid Irises.

Could not resist posting this lovely iris
It is Take no Sata
Which is a pseudata that means it was crossed with an iris pseudorus and ensata iris
Now I finally have the two pseudorus that are not invasive here and plan on doing some crosses this year on them...
Keep your fingers crossed that one takes and it is to die yeah right

Beautiful photo of pseudata. I am Susan and was lincolnitess on DG. I grow mostly tall bearded and SDB Iris. Last year I did add 2 pseudatas, Shirabyoshi and Ryugan and am hoping to see them bloom this year. My garden zone 5 garden in Lincoln NE is probably best described as a collector's garden. I have mostly daylilies, Iris and lilies, but also grow a lot of other perennials and annuals. My biggest problem, which I also regard as a blessing, is my limited space. Grass is long gone and there aren't many spots left to plant anymore as you can see from this photo. The good part about that is that I'm forced to really evaluate the plants that I do grow and decide each year which will have to go if I add any new ones.

Here is a link to a slide show of some of the Iris I grow.

Hi,
I am Brigitte and live in Maine. My DG name was Eglantyne and I kept it also for this group since Eglantyne is the name of a english rose by David Austin and was my mother's favorite rose before she died.

I grow roses, lilies, daylilies ( also my own crosses) peonies and of course I was also smitten by the beauty of irises.Planted lots and lots last year so hopefully I will have a beautiful garden this year.

Susan,I tremendously enjoyed your slide show and added already Jurassic Park,Queens Circle and Cat's Eye to my wishlist for this year.
WHAT mulch are you using in the picture wiht "Wild Castanets"

Susan Lovely slide show. I loved the fact that you grow SDBs. However I am pointing out that 'Ruby Eruption is the wrong plant. RE is a red on yellow plicata, not a self. You can let the people you bought it from know. Are you a member of the Lincoln iris society? They were so great at the median convention.

Hi Paul, welcome. You'll see a lot of beardless irises around here. Beardless-Is-Me. And I would love to see some of the ones you have..

Welcome Susan, what a beautiful slideshow! I like the medians too. And those are some great pseudatas. You'll love them. I guess I tend to be a collector also.

Welcome Brigitte. I recall some of your posts on DG. Eglantyne is a wonderful rose. My daughter gave me a David Austin collection one year, and it was in it.

You folks are going to like it here, I think. We have a great group so far, and it just keeps growing.

C'mon in everyone, the waters fine.

Hi! I'm Bev and I have ordered from every iris co-op I could since joining most of y'all a few years ago. This year should be a nice one since I couldn't help myself during Dee's last big to-do, lol! I have been lurking on the Winter Boredom threads on DG and trying to keep myself out of major trouble, but none of you is helping;> Seriously...love all the pictures. Helps keep that 'here comes Spring' spirit alive!
Dee, sign me up for that beauty!
