It would be great to have a database somewhere with search capabilities where you type in the known characteristics of your noid, and you are given photos of possible matches. Is there such a titan available anywhere? Tinkers garden has something similar, if I remember right, for daylilies. Of course, our noid might just be a noid, who knows?

Have you tried our database. It's small yet, but growing. Try the advanced search. Say you are looking for a TB, that is mid blooming and purple. It will come up with a list.

Members are adding to the database all the time. I think we've slowed down a little with the recent upheaval, but that type of information is exactly what I wanted the database for.

Other than that, I don't know what iris wiki has for search capabilities. I can't think of anywhere else.

Here's ours, please try the advanced search.

Glad to see that you are starting one. I think it needs a bit of refining though, for example, I was looking for a pure white, tall iris, and it brought up irises with any amount of white at all, and only one or two that I would call white. Some that I would call light blue, etc. You could have classes like selfcolor, plicata, amoena, etc. Very fragrant, somewhat fragrant, no fragrance.

Try the one at TWiki then and see if it suits. I'm not really sure what their search feature is like.

We are setting this one up mainly, so if someone here sees an iris they like in a thread, they can find it later in the database. Or to get a recommendation of an iris someone on here grows that they like. We can never try to have the size database DG or AIS has.
