Welcome Mary Ann! So glad to see you've made it over here too! We're having a grand time talking about whatever we want to about irises, etc., without having to watch what we say so we don't irritate Big Brother (or Sister, in Terry's case!). We do have two Big Sisters here, but they're delightful and watch over us in a good way. So enjoy!

Jerry, so many are leaving. I re-upped for another year at ''Dave's'' for those who don't come over here. I sure love it here tho.

Evan, those are so delicately beautiful!!
I also have to struggle thru some of the abbreviations, LOL!

Dee, thanks! I bookmarked that!

Betty, I have found many friends here. I agree about it freeing up your time. I don't even have time for looking at new threads over there like I used to.

Dee, they really handled the transfer very badly. There was no need for any of it. Greedy people are what they are, and real gardeners aren't like that.

Polly, I think this forum is a success. I'm very happy here!

Hi Mary!

Donna, I would have know you were gone too if I had been on threads with you. I'm glad to have met you thru Sharon's spotlight!

Mary, a girl after my own heart, bicycling back out!! I am awed by all your iris and can't wait to see every one of them!!
Gorgeous horse!!

Thanks Sally, I think so too. I'm always amazed at how pleasant and helpful the members are here. Not one argument in over a year.

Polly said I must come here and introduce myself. Since I always obey direct orders from
females, I will do so, though I can't imagine that anyone is interested.

My name is Ron Couch. I am 73. I live in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and don't own a single
Iris.

I used to have several varieties of iris and enjoyed them very much. However, changing
circumstances dictated a change of residence, and the new tenant of my previous domicile said that I had to leave the iris behind.

I enjoy looking at pictures of your iris and reading the information you post here. I will
try to be both appreciative and unobtrusive. Thank y'all for such a lovely cubit.

Welcome, Ron!!!!

You don't need to have irises to love them, that's for sure. And please don't try to be unobtrusive. Come talk to us.

Do you not have irises for some reason now, or just that you had to leave them behind?

If you just had to leave them behind, I have a few I can share this year. What kind do you like, bearded or beardless, beardless being like the siberians, Japanese, etc.?

Hi Ron! This is the place to enjoy all iris and I'm sure you will find something to say about your old iris!

I think you are my third friend from Mississippi, so I look forward to anything you write about!

Well, the day is moving on without me. I have to get busy!!

Well thanks for the nice big Cubit welcome!! Big Grin

I actually joined the Iris Cubit last year when Cubits began -- but somehow managed to miss this thread. Like I said -- better late than never!!

Thanks for the kind words about my horse. He is an American Saddlebred gelding, registered name *A Significant Other* -- barn name Ben. He was once a Mounted Police horse in Macon, Georgia. When that department was disbanded, he was enroute to his breeder in Missouri and over-nighted at my farm. That overnight stay turned into 12 years. He is now 22 years old, and is just as beautiful and spirited as he ever was. I don't ride him anymore because he has arthritic issues, but he is the boss-horse here and pretty much runs the place!!

Hi Betty! Good to see your smiling face here!! Thumbs up

I actually have some nice photos of some of my Irises from last year. Shall I share them? Or wait for this year's blooms?

Oh yes, Mary Ann, you must share! There aren't many rules here -- but I think that's one of them! Must share pictures!!!

Welcome Ron, and we hope you enjoy our antics over here. Do you remember the names of the irises you had before and/or any pictures? And please be obtrusive, as we will look forward to your posts!

Hi Ron. Welcome from another *newbie*!

OK Betty. I'll post a couple every day or so -- don't want to flood the list. I'll try to identify as I go.

First one will be one of my favorites -- Blue Reflection. This is one of the Irises that I bought from Schreiners in the mid-70's, and moved to Kentucky in the mid-80's. I've shared rhizomes of this with many people.

This Iris is Impressionist -- it's one that I bought just a few years ago, and is very unusual. Love the stripe down the center of each fall petal!

Welcome Ron.

One thing with a love of the flowers if you can no longer have them, you can close your eyes and see them or come here and see them as there are many great pictures and photographers here.

Welcome Maryann

Post all the pictures you can handle as we LOVE THEM

Another thing DG did to both Polly and myself was we could not post any picture with our ID on them, so I stopped years ago.

I love this cubits not just because Polly and I co own (she is the brains I am the Brawn LOL) but because it is open and friendly knowledgable and caring.

Mary Ann, those are beautiful irises -- especially love IMPRESSIONIST.
And if you haven't already done so, why don't you also post them in our database? We're all working to increase it every chance we get, and that way we'll be able to also access your pictures later without having to try and remember what thread we saw them in.

Might I suggest that Mary Ann that you start a picture thread in the photos section for last years blooms? Then you need not worry about "flooding" the thread, because it will be your thread. We all love pictures and Betty is right; it is a requirement ( Ref. Ch 3, leadger 5x, shelf 12, row AA4; sub chap 1.2 version 3.4.12.AB).....Everyone MUST post pictures so that our beloved cubits community can drool continously.

Well -- I uploaded the picture of my Impressionist to the database -- it was a lot of work, but I got it done.

Also uploaded the information for Blue Reflection, but in trying to find it -- it wasn't there. Sad What's that about?
