Very nice Ransom iris.

From the looks of the unknown type of iris it is like a spuria that has been left too long in one spot and negulated for a long period of time. Now this is just a guess.

Thank you Dee. I did not know that a spuria neglecred for a very long time could have so small rhizome. Hope it will blloom again and let us know.
Thank you again for the guess.

I will post if it does Dee.
Working on the information you gave me it seems that this iris is Iris maritima, a spuria with a very different flower that the ones we know, existing in an alba form too. This iris is from France only and nearly extinct.
What is your Tigard please?

Great pic of the roots, C. If you could put those pics in our database, I would really appreciate it.

I've tried growing them, and they have not come back the next year. The only ones I've had come back of the junos was bucharica.

Iris Albertii

Species

New comers in the garden

I have got many irises from swapping with the SFIB members this year. One of them is Iris Albertii, a species originating from Central Asia and which can be cultivated in full sun or in semi shade. This one has been planted one week before the end of June. After a while seeing not a single sign fo growth I asked to the person from whom I received it if that was normal. The rhizome seemed to be still very healthy. The answer was dont worry, it is taking time. iT did for sure, almost two months to a little growth, for one of them as the second one has still dry leaves. Let me show you as it is INMH very interesting.

No we don't have that. Will have to look up the ABs. Some are in different beds & that makes a difference for their growth pattern.
