Name: Dee Stewart Willamette Valley OR Snowpeak Iris
You should try some species such as John Wood, some of Anita's Versicolor they grow well almost any where and they are so different and extend the iris bloom later.
John Wood is in bloom here but about 2 weeks late and Anita's have buds which I hope to see before I leave for Canada on Mon. Lucky my worker is coming over and taking pictures for me, watering in the greenhouse and watering all the new baby (up to 15') trees we just potted up.
I will try to post a couple of pictures from Canada but no promises but when I come back will post many.
I joined awhile ago (don't remember when) and wanted to say hello. I live in Springfield, IL but am from Maryland originally. I LOVE iris but don't know the names of most and don't label the ones I have planted. I am just one to try to keep adding to my "collection," share what I have with others, and drink in the beauty of them all when they bloom.
I am a Master Gardener which means I have learned how much I DON'T know! I love being outside and have a lot to learn about everything but I'm working on it!
A special mention: when I joined Dave's Garden, Mitt sent me some iris and a book. He furthered my love of them and I will be eternally grateful to him for his kindness and the joy he finds in sharing his love of iris!!
Warm Wishes to all,
~ If I take a moment to plant a Seed, you take a moment to water it and another spends a moment to love it, one could say that it was only a matter of moments before it bloomed. ~
Welcome, Susie! We love to show off our iris, and I'm glad you've already shared some pictures with us. I wonder who will be the first to guess the names of her iris? I know the first reminds me a bit of BARBARA MY LOVE...
Hi Susie -- welcome!! I'm absolutely anal about identifying my Irises -- it drives me crazy not to know their names!!! However -- you don't have to be anal like me to grow them, enjoy them, and marvel at their beauty!! Yours are beautiful! Smells like root beer????????
Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time.
