I never really thought about it much, and didn't notice, really until today. Now that I have a ton of iris in the front yard, and they're all done blooming, one of my neighbors asked why the tips of my leaves are all brown. And they are! Every leaf tip has an inch or two of brown crispy tips.... is it the heat?

they are winding down the year, and the older leaves will turn brown tips first and then all the way, and also you have had quite a bit of heat this year.

I find it very relaxing to go around the yard after work and pull off the outer leaves that are done..but I wish all the tips were still green! One clump in particular, I'm tempted to just trim them all they're so bad! I'm glad tho, that that's all it is..Thanks Dee!

Sometimes when I have the time and inclination, I zip through the garden and just cut off only the brown tips, a simple trim -- and the iris look eversomuch (is that a word?) better afterward, and I love the look. But since I added daylilies to my summer project this year I haven't had time to hardly glance at the iris recently. Hopefully after I get this current bed planted I can return to iris care again.

You can trim off the brown tips with no harm to the iris if you want to. It might be extra work, but if it's important to you I'd go ahead.
