This forum is a place where we can talk about anything that's going on. If Dee worked hard in the fields, if Lucy saw a new iris she hybridized pop up, if Anita saw a great new bird, if Allison got an award for her Christmas lighting. Maybe Marie went to a show, or Evey opened her website, (ahem). We are a great bunch of friends on here. If you're not a friend in our group, well dang it, why aren't you? LOL All it takes is a post. I'm not discouraging talk anywhere else, but I am encouraging it here. Talk all over the place! |

My granddaughter is getting her black belt in karate tomorrow. She is seven, and the youngest ever in the 35 years of the chain of 12 dojos to have gotten her adult black belt. I'm so proud of her. She is so focused. She's a straight A student. And she just loves life, laughs all the time, and is a real nut. Pictures, of course, will follow. She stayed overnight two nights ago, and at 10 PM was out in the snow in shorts (I made her put shoes on instead of flip flops), pushing her Barbie through the snow in her new Barbie convertible. Barbie was appropriately dressed in a white wedding gown with a trailing veil, and black moccasins. Don't you just love a kid like that? |

LOL LOL I am so glad I did not have daughters LOL LOL LOL |

I have 3 (now grown) & they were more animal kids than dolls. All sort of enjoy gardening, however only one really has irises. They are a part of her front yard 'cottage garden' however. I can pull up an iris with all the snow, however a lot less than is in MD. Just frustrated. |

DD has picked a college and we're now in the process of scholarships. Senior year is so busy! |
What college did she pick? How many children do you have Jumper2 (I hesitate to call you little Lucy). My Jenna loves gardening too, Lucy. In fact I'm putting in a cutting garden for her this year.' I want pink, Grammy'. But she's not a pink type girl. |

She picked Lake Erie College in Painsville, OH. She is my youngest, I have a son too. J-2 works fine, thanks for not using the 'little'. Made things confusing sometimes when there were 2 Lucys in the house growing up. |

While my grandson took off a year from school he is to start JC in Sept and he is starting to really look forward to it. Hope it works for him as his father thinks college is stupid. Trade school only. Got alot done in the greenhouse today potting lilies and then cleaning and checking all the plants for Farmers Market as only work it 2 months of the year. Toms and Peppers started today as well. Started some innumanoda seeds and some PCN seeds will start some bloodline seeds tomorrow. D |

Lake Erie college sounds cold. What will she be attending for? I did my first four years at Oswego State, and it was cold, cold, cold. Walking across that campus in the winter, oh yuck. How old is your son, J-2.? My parents didn't believe in college either, Dee. So I understand. I borrowed my first years tuition, and then got a job and paid them right back. It was 800.00, LOL. I can't even imagine what it is today. You were busy, busy today,Dee! Nothing I can do outside yet. I can't even get anywhere that hasn't been snowblowed. Good for your grandson, so many people that say they're going back to school after a year off never do. |

By the way, I made the chit chat forum available only to members of the iris cubit, so they need to join the iris cubit before posting, or reading. We can't expect much privacy in cubits, but at least everyone won't be seeing this chit chat thread. There are currently 60 members. |

Son is 19, he'll be 20 next month. Lake Erie is 1 1/2 hr. east of me. Sometimes the lake makes it cold and sometimes it's not so bad. I live 2 blocks from it, lol. |
I would suppose it's the east end that gets the cold and snow off the lake. One time we had very high winds and we had an announcement of lake effect from Lake Erie. We are on the east end of Lake Ontario, just before it curves up. I said now come on! |
Depends on the wind direction. The east end gets the most, but we've gotten it too if the wind swings westward. We've gotten it from Lake Huron too. |
I mean if it comes out of the east instead of the west. |
You people should see MY lake (Michigan). No more. We now have the ocean to deal with. 5 miles away as the crow flies with a 200 ft ridge inbetween. Ocean effect snow soemtimes with nice cold winds. John says they used to hear the radio announcer when he was in college annoucing that ST. Lawrence U was snowed in again. |

I hope seedlings germinate, none last yr which is very discouraging. I have made several crosses in my head, hope they don't fall out. |

Have you seen the weather report? Mess predicted for Tues & Wed. We always get tired of Feb. March sometimes is not much better, though not so cold. I want to plan some improvements in a bed greeting you as you turn in the driveway, but hard to do with snow. Iris seeds don't germinate until May so I don't worry about them at the moment. There will probably not be much heaving of iris plants this yr. as the ground has remained frozen. |

Well you are guys are going to tell me, its my fault again, as we are 26 right now at 7:13AM my time but during the day is to get to 60+, but most of day will be in a sewing class I have wanted to take for awhile and next month finally one for new machine. The only trouble with this kind of weather in Feb is that it will hide rot on the iris where the top is great and the bottom has rot. I will look forward to the warmth this afternoon. D I know my grand son is very determined to go to college come Sept as he has his papers and getting all his ducks in row. |
