After 13 years online, Cubits.org is scheduled to be shut down. Please make sure you have the contact information for all your friends, and that you download whatever content you want from this site.
Let's use this thread to post our rebloomers. Please put name of iris, zone you're in, date rebloomed, and your location, if you don't mind, even the state is just fine. Then Dee and I will make a page to keep this info on.
And even though beardless irises are considered remontant instead of rebloom, let's list those too.
OK -- like Comfortable and Tequila Sunrise bloomed a second time this summer -- but they're not rebloomers. There's one more, but I can't think of it at the moment.
Also -- Feedback and Amain rebloomed -- but they ARE rebloomers. But they shouldn't have rebloomed in July -- they should rebloom in September. That has yet to be determined.
I'm not sure of my zone (7 sounds about right) -- and I'm in western Kentucky.
HTH!!
Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time.
Southern California Zone 9 Sunset 19: Today is Aug 15.
I divided almost everything this year, so not much rebloom.
Total Recall: 1 rebloom in June, then I divided them, so I don't expect much rebloom until winter.
Frequent Flyer: pathetic rebloom this year in July- one stalk. I divided and moved it.
Jennifer Rebecca: Had a Spring bloom, then the rebloom is happening one fan at a time, so I have had it in bloom for a month, and there is another stalk on it yet to open.
Rose Teall rebloomed in June and in early August.
Plum Pretty Whiskers is not a rebloomer, but it rebloomed here June/July.
No Count Blues is not a rebloomer, but it rebloomed here in July.
Polly: This sounds like a great idea.
I only have 2 that I know of and this years bloom season was skrewed up so if they rebloom it will be a surprise.
I will keep an eye on this thread and hope to have pix but most probably next year.
I'm hoping to get a 'page' together of some irises that rebloom, so when Cubit members want to get some rebloomers we can have something to refer to. Personally I love the fall rebloomers that are in the brown and orange colors, so nice. last year I had quite a few siberians rebloom and a couple of Japanese.
Have you ladies tried Immortality? When I was gainfully employed (as opposed to working for my daughter) my territory extended into the Adirondacks. Zone 3. Immortality rebloomed in so many places up there. There were towns where they obviously shared it with neighbors, as in late August the towns would be covered with white irises.
That's cool Polly. I have Immortality now... It bloomed for me first time this year after being in my yard for only one year.... lets see if it blooms again. &:-)
Immortalilty is the only consistant rebloomer for me in zone 5b. Once in a while I'll get a bloom or two from Harvest of Memories, but usually it gets frozen off. Good old Jennifer Rebecca tries each year, but always gets frozen. If you go to Suttons web site, they have a nice reblooming chart which shows which zone a flower reblooms in. There aren't many for the Northern states.
Hi,! I've had super luck with Earl of Essex, Clarence,& Best Bet, But Immortality has never rebloomed for me! We've given starts to 2 friends, THEY re-bloomed, but Mine,Nope! Everthing this year was either moved just after spring bloom, or brand new planting, so I don't expect anything, but I can hope!...Arlyn
Hi,! We're in Northwestern Illinois, Whiteside county, to be exact. Zone 5a. We are in the Rock River valley, so our weather is usually colder than that of areas even to the north of us.I normally have quite a few stalks that "finish" inside the house! I hate to see them "go to waste" with a hard freeze. One trick I use is garbage cans! I cover the plants with bloom stalks during hard freeze conditions, even in the daytime. I think the brown garbage cans even help to hurry up the bloom a bit! Don't look the best, with 6, or 8 garbage cans upside bown in the yard, but it saves the bloom thru those 1st freezes! Some years it's quite a while of nice weather after that first little dose of 15 degree freeze. Arlyn
Hi,! Generally yes, at least to my way of thinking. This last winter was very, very dry ,tho. Not much snow or rain, and , of course it's been dry ever since! I suppose ,on average, we get 1 snow in the 12" range, 5 or 6 in the 6" range, and a bunch of those little flurries of up to an inch or so. Arlyn
