Hi everyone! My name is Pam,and yes I am an Irisoholic. I have nearly finished cleaning up my garden to put it to bed for the winter and noticed that I have several empty spaces. Even after buying several new ones....it's enough to give a person the shakes.....Well anyway, in surfing the net to feed my addiction, I found Cubits and thought that maybe I should stop in and join the fun.
I have been growing Iris for many years. Currently there are about 350 different groups of tall bearded iris under my care. I also have four horses, two dogs and a black cat to keep me occupied.
Enjoying all the pictures and information!
I have a lot of historics, and really love the newer Keppel and Blyth iris.
Currently waiting for one lone re-bloomer to open - so I guess iris season isn't quite done yet.
my favorite of the year..Dressed to Kill Black 06

Hi Pam and trust me you are in irisaholic heaven here, as there are tons of us here. I have in bearded about 1200 varieties but I am commercial so that does not count....LOL This all started as a hobby oh so many moons ago and now it is a business. The only month I truly hate is Sept...digging the entire fields, trimming, dividing and replanting.

I had a beauty of a black cat but someone took him just before Halloween! Now I have one dog, 3 cats....

Welcome and post away all the time, it is fun even in winter when we are looking for anything and everything

350. That's a pretty big number. I'm especially interested in hearing more about your historics--and hoping that we'll get to see some pictures. I'm pretty new here, too, so it's not really my place to welcome, but I'm glad that you're here. :)

I'm a lurker.

O K since people are posting a brief bio.
Here is mine.
Share house w/DD and best SIL in the world, because I am old.
1 cat at present but GD will add one in spring when she comes home from school.
Approx 3,000.sq.ft. collectively of garden space all filled with 500 lilies, many nepetas, some DL's and close to 100 iris all planted in the past 2 years, no rows just clumps where there is room and they make nice color combos with perennials.
Thats about it.

Thanks everyone!

Managed to get a little bit of weeding done tonight in between rain showers. I'm very proud of myself in that this year I have the garden looking presentable before it snows . I have one nice stalk of Feed Back about to explode with 4 or 5 buds all at once. I'll try to get a picture.

Bretttt My historics tend to age me. I have been collecting iris for, ahem, a while.... and they really don't seem all THAT old to me....

Fill in the blank 'oholic..... Yup, that fits!
