When Dee and I started this Cubit we never, ever thought we would have so many people join us. And such wonderful folks, all friendly and helpful. It's been an amazing adventure, and we hope you will stick with us for many years to come.
Just wanted to come and thank you all for all you've given here. The advice, the photos, even just the talk when it's not iris season to keep us thinking about irises.

I've really appreciated Cubits since I joined sometime ago, Merry Christmas Dee, Polly, and everyone who contributes to make Cubits a pleasure to visit and participate in. Snow today so we are having a white Christmas. My family just left but they will be back in the morning. Now if I can get passed Jan and Feb I can get back into the garden.
Just finished Christmas Eve with gift unwrapping for all. Grandkids made enough noise to wake the dead but it is all worthwhile. Merry Christmas to all iris lovers and remember we are past the shortest day of the year and it will not be long until we are checking clumps for bud stalks.
We've had our traditional Swedish dinner for Christmas Eve, the guests have departed, and I'm winding down from a long and busy day. Tomorrow it all starts up again as the family from southern Illinois will join us for Christmas festivities and dinner. Gifts will be exchanged then. At least I hope this all comes to pass -- a blizzardly storm is headed our way, and could interfere and prevent it all. The forecasters are telling us anywhere from an inch of snow to twelve!!! (depending on which direction the storm heads). One thing they are guaranteeing is some snow, high winds and cold air -- so driving could become very difficult, and in that case, we may postpone Christmas until the weekend.
I would also like to extend my thanks to Dee and Polly for creating our little corner of the world here. Cubits is the first place I check every time I fire up my computer, and I consider the people here to be special friends. I'm certain that any one of you could comfortably sit down in my home and we'd have a very pleasant visit. It's what we sort of do on a daily basis anyway.
So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of my Iris Cubit friends.
Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time.

I'm still in the Christmas mood on December 26th, and I wish the same as above to everyone. Thanks to Dee & Polly for their service through this cubit! Again, Merry Christmas to everyone, and may 2013 bring health and happiness to everyone!
Well considering the world was supposed to end a few days back, lol it just keeps going. Glad to see that each of you have had a joyous Special Holiday. I cooked one of my home grown turkeys for Christmas dinner. Was really good. Today I went shopping. I decided to get a smaller (4 foot) tree. It's such a task putting up and taking down this monster. Got a good deal too, half priced, now I'm all set for next year. Here's hoping that the New Year brings lots of blooms, and enough rain to keep things growing. As much as I enjoyed the 80 degree weather last March, I think in the long run I'd rather have things more on a regular keal. It's been below freezing non stop here for the last several days. It's kind of neat going out with the dogs late at night and hearing the snow crunch under your feet, and feeling the crispness in the air. I am so greatful for the good conversations about iries and other things provided by all of you great people on this discussion forum. I have learned so much, and keep learning. I feel like I have a support group who understands my addiction to irises, and my inability to resist buying more and more. Last year I only increased my inventory by 75!!! Although, I did cull out 2 varieties. OMG! But I'm starting the year out by already having ordered 6 from Australia, 5 new intros, and one that's been around a while, but not available in the US, at least I couldn't find it. (Samarkand Road) Have a Happy New Year, and don't drink too many! Just enough.

I'm burned out on cooking for a while. Yesterday I did Baby Back Ribs. My family loved them so they must have turned out all right. Also baked beans, pasta salad, etc. My second Grand son is a fitness fanatic and lives on chicken, vegetables, and rice. When he comes here though he goes off the wagon and really eats. My Son and Daughter gave me a gift certificate for iris from Keith Keppel which makes me smile. I keep looking at the pictures and wondering what to get........his intros of some Blyth Iris. What a nice problem to worry about. Then when the other catalogs arrive I'll be in deep trouble. 4inches of snow this morning and I'm only done with 1/3 of the driveway so I'd better get off the computer and get busy. Deer in the yard during the night.
So nice to hear from all of you. What fun to have folks from different countries on here, and see how their wishes look. I'd love to hear them in person.
We dodged the bullet here with only about 3 inches or less of snow but a town about 50 miles to the Southeast received a reported 18 inches. They received their year's allocation in one dose.
