Hi everyone, I do not post much, being a busy teacher, but I do love to get on and check in with you all. You all have such great pictures and info to share. I just wanted to share my maiden bloom of Starship Enterprise with you all. Of all the iris I planted last year this is the one I was hoping would bloom and it did, two stalks no less. I do love it! And it looks great next to my Vicar.
I understand your excitement over Starship Enterprise. I love it, too. I would also recommend Keppel's version of S.E., it is called Rainbow High. It could make you giddy with over-stimulated color receptors. I want both of these in my garden from here on. You are fortunate it bloomed so easily. Mine have been more finicky.
Mary Ann- yes it is the purple. It is Vicar's second year. I planted Swingtown last year and it is so much like Vicar, maybe the beards are more blue. I am learning I need to do more research with the parenting along with looking at pictures before I order to help me with color.
Ahhhh- and it looks great where it is planted. A lovely combo. Mine died- it took it about five years, but it finally bloomed once (one flower) and promptly croaked. Thank you for sharing it- it has always been a big favorite of mine.
