I have tried to get this iris from Joe Ghio in the past and last year he was out of stock. Now this year it isn't offered in his catalog or anyone else's that I have gotten. So, I am turning to my fellow iris enthusiasts for assistance. If anyone knows of where this is available, please let me know.
Unfortunately Nola's lists this one as out of stock. She is at walking-p-bar.com. It is possible that it may be growing there but not enough increase for this season. That should be able to be confirmed. An interesting color combination. Good luck with the search.
I shot him an email after reading your response. I am waiting for a reply.
Thank you for the suggestions all of you. I have one fan and it has no increases on it. I think I better experiment with it and see if I can get some increase before I lose it altogether. I will continue looking for a source or sources.
I will try enriching the soil and change location. It is so beautiful when it blooms. He named it appropriately.
I'll let you know if I find it. Otherwise consider me still searching....
Name: Bonnie Sojourner Harris Brake, Arkansas, zone 7 The Magnolia Zone
That's how it reads. I thought it was looking for heaven until I could not find any info on it and then decided it must be just Heaven. BTW at what age are we allowed to start having junior moments....you know, pitching a fit if we don't get blooms on everything, crying if the irises get rot or a borer..., oh wait, I think I know....
Omigosh -- I thought it was *Looking for Heaven* too......... Lots of senior moments here too.
Lost a couple of minutes there after the last sentence -- Panda brought me a toy to play tug. Lots of growling/toy squeaking/hugging and kissing going on!!
Anyway -- Katherine, Joe doesn't *do* email. You'll have to send him a note via the post office.
Bonnie -- I've been an active member of *junior moment-land* ever since I started growing Irises!
Ooops -- Panda's back with her toy.............
Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time.
Guess he made an exception. He told me he did not grow it anymore and suggested another iris called, Magic Act. It is a beauty, too, but Heaven is what I still am searching for.
I can certainly see how the Title of my post could have been misleading to anyone, senior or no. Nice future name for an iris, Looking for Heaven. The one I am searching for is just the single word, Heaven and if you figure that Joe Ghio named it that then it must be pretty special. It is. It just does not thrive with me and It is a diminishing return as opposed to increasing. It is beautiful enough that that does not stop me.
Stay on the lookout for me, friends, if you would. Numerous sets of eyes are better than one.
Wow -- Joe stepped into the 21st century! Good deal. Sorry that he didn't have good news for you, though. Have you got a picture of this Iris that you're trying so hard to have in your garden Katherine -- that you can share with us?
Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time.
Paul,
I wrote a response to your alfalfa pellet suggestion but maybe I didn't click finished.
Anyway, I will do that, Paul. You have never given me bum tip. Everything you have suggested has worked for me in the past. Thank you. It could be just the trick to get more of it. I know I need to do something. If I lose it altogether I will have a junior fit. I think I have been calling them tantrums. I like junior fit better. Hate when I do that!!!
