I never would have thought it possible, after the harsh winter, but I have my first bearded bloom today !! This little Gal is a NOID MDB that I've had for years, and it's almost always 1st to bloom. Sometimes, Alpine Lake beats it, but this year, the NOID wins !....Arlyn
I finally can feel some "fat leaves" on a couple of my very tiny irises. Should be about a week to 10 days. That's a cute purple one Arlyln, When's the next one coming?
That's an amazing little NOID, Polly ! I had it , years ago, and planted some in a stone "planter box" at the village park (across the street from us). When we moved to the "new place", and moved all our iris and plants, it was one that was unintentionally "left behind", and the new owner of our "old place" had "rooted it all out" to widen the driveway! So, ,last year, I went across the street and "borrowed back" a start from the park ! Talk about increase ! That thing has gone totally nuts ! The plant at the park has not only filled in, but almost doubled in size, and the 2 starts I took off from it have MORE than doubled in size! And they are all full of buds, and bloom ! There is MUCH to be said about "fertilizing iris", both pro, and con, but it surely made a statement with these ! When I removed the starts, I sprinkled alfalfa pellets, some bone meal, and my "mix' of fertilizer on the "Park Plant", as well as on the starts. And ,as you say, I really should 'split things up" AGAIN!...arlyn
Alpine Lake actually opened two days ago, but the blooms have been badly affected by the weather! They don't seem to have the "substance" to stand up to wind and rain. The little noid that was first to bloom, though, came through it with flying colors...and still lots of buds coming!....Arlyn

Thanks ! I should have some "new' ones tomorrow ! Lots of the SDB's are full of buds, with most showing color, so I expect a good show ! It's been so crummy out that I haven't made a real close inspection for a few days, so I guess the rain coat will be used this afternoon...I need a "fix" pretty bad!...Arlyn
