Hi all my customers, I have sad news. This will be my last year in business. With the lost of my husband I must hire any help I receive and with Oregon being the second highest minimum wage in the USA and the toll it is taking on my old body, I have decided that it is time, so that I can start doing things in the summer with my widowed friends.

Thank you all for your support and friendship.

That does not mean I will not be on here.

I will be introducing my own or have someone else do it for me.

Oh Dee -- how sad. But not surprising. *A time for every season*. Hugs.

So sorry to hear that! It has to be a hard decision for you and sad to see another great vendor closing down. Best wishes for your "retirement"!

Sad to hear you are closing up shop, but it's completely understandable. Enjoy your new "freedom" and may the rest make you bloom in other ways.

God bless you Dee. You have been through so much in the last few years, and now it is time for you to enjoy your life. You have brought much happiness with your beautiful irises. I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and get to do a whole lot of fun things. Group hug

It is time to quit a game when it is not fun anymore. I just sprayed my iris beds with a strong mix of Roundup in order to kill the weeds and tree suckers which had grown as tall as my shoulders. The neighbor has a swamp maple or birch tree which consumed my iris patch. I am too old to spend all my time pulling weeds and otherwise caring for irises. I kept a white rebloomer and a white spaceager which I had planted next to a couple of white peonies. Paraphrasing an old funeral line, "grass to grass", I am going back to something I can mow. I have more permanent stains on my knees than a sinning Catholic and my back just won't handle all the crouching anymore. It was a good run but it is time to change.

Sad to see you go. I love all my iris I have from you. They are among the few that made the move to RI without any losses. But, now you will have time for yourself to have fun Smiling

Thank you all but with the lost of my husband, the business is just not the same and I am not the spring chicken I thought I was once. It is time that I do things that are fun. I am taking an Alaskan cruise with another widow this Sept. 14 days of land and sea. I have been twice but not the areas we are going to be going. So it is time for me to have some fun since I have been in business since 1999 and summer was just for the business. Basically 9 months of the year was iris.

I will still be on here! Trust me as I have many friends I would miss not hearing from

None of us are the spring chickens we once were, Dee. One by one, we will all make the difficult decision to let our Irises go. There's no shame in it. Life is for living!! *For a season*, Irises are an important part of living. Then comes a season when they aren't. Wisdom is knowing when the season changes. I hope you have a great time on your cruise. And I'm glad that you're gonna *stick around*!! Big Grin

Takes courage to make this kind of decision. Happy to hear about the cruise, hope you post photographs. Smiling
You are free to choose. You are not, however, free from the consequences of your choice.

Challenging when the mind says, "I can do anything!" and the body says, "Um, wait a minute, there..." Smiling

Sorry to hear it, Dee. I know how much work it is to maintain a private garden, so can only imagine the work which goes into commercial. Have a great cruise.

Dee,
We just wanted to tell you that we have loved the iris we have ordered over the years from you. My daughter and I were just getting started with our "crazy iris addiction" when we found your sight and have enjoyed looking at your site, having fun ordering, and watching our flowers grow.

Also I am deeply sorry for the loss of your husband. My prayers for you and your family.

Please enjoy your retirement and have a great time on your trip.

We leave the end of Aug for 2 weeks one on land and one at sea. I have seen most of the inland as been up there two times, once with our family that lived there for many years and the other time just to see what we could see. Was there in 79 and 89 so many changes to see.

I will post pictures of the trip, they will not be iris because iris time is gone for them as they are for us

Sorry to hear, but honestly I am thinking the same. I have one more operation to go, and then I will see how I feel.

Enjoy that cruise!!!!!!!!!
