I'm having an unusual problem, this year....my rebloomers are reblooming so early that it's coinciding with the Japanese beetles.....and the darn things eat like hogs !! Anyone have any suggestions for a "repellant", rather than a poison......the honey bees are visiting the blooms, as well. thanks

That's a real problem Arlyn. When I had that situation, I used Sevin and apologized to any honeybees, etc. Sometimes you cannot win. Sad

Give them a blast with the hose & step on them? Milky spore should be applied to the lawn next spring, but that is far off.

I have a coffee can with soapy water. I check my roses every morning and knock them into the coffee can. I really hate those things, those and the rose chafers who also love my irises in May and June. Thumbs down

That's what I've been doing....picking them off, a couple times a day. They are usually "over" for the year, when rebloom starts, but they are "running late (thankfully there aren't as many as some years !), and the rebloom is starting early! I tried "misting" the blooms with "insecticidal soap".....which works well, for other bugs, later in the rebloom season........but all that seems to do is make the beetles cleaner Sticking tongue out !

I haven't seen one of them this year yet here. They usually eat my Casa Blanca lily every summer, but not this year. When I used to have some re-bloom, they would eat them too.
