| So I'm still unclear about *sports*. I understand that sports are variations on established cultivars. What I don't understand is: do these sports then become their own cultivar with their own name, etc.? And who makes that decision? When you say that "Brown's Mutant -- one of it's sports........." -- it is one of whose sports? Yes -- I have some Irises (flags) given to me by a neighbor. They came from his Mom's yard. How would I know if they're sports vs. hybridized cultivars from long ago? One of them is either Honorabile or San Souci -- I think!! So are both of these considered sports of something else? Very confusing........  Every day is a second chance. Every day is precious time. |
