Thanks Sue. I know not to get evergreen. Although actually I've never tried them, and they might do well in our odd climate. I will look for the northern sellers, though. Um, weren't you the one that said you were getting away from daylilies, LOL.

Cathy, I think you may be a similar zone to ours. I just started growing astilbe in sun a few years ago. Once it gets established it does fine. The first year it looks a little burnt, those roots need to go deep to get the water. But try one or so. And the siberians and Jis will do well in part shade.
