|Ok, most of you that know me know how many problems I've had the last few years with the weather and my irises. I love living in East Texas 95% of the time. It's a very beautiful place and very peaceful most of the time. However the past 4 years I've had something awful happen just at peek bloom time or when I've just planted a new bed.
Last night we had some wicked storms roll through and destroyed everything blooming and more. We had hail the size of golf balls and the wind was unreal. Today my irises are mostly lying on the ground beat to smithereans.... Needless to say they were just starting to really take off and the bloomstalks were everywhere. This morning the bloom stalks are all blown over including all my amaryalis, and many other plants in pots were uplifted and tossed around like paper blowing in the wind. I'm so sick of dealing with great anticipation of a GREAT BLOOM SEASON to only be jurked around by mother nature who I have no control over. Needless to say I was very mad and very upset. Until I came in the house and watched the news. It showed some of the other areas hit by the storms where complete schools were destroyed, homes destroyed and lives lost. Then I realized just how petty my issues and concerns were regarding the loss of blooms and another season down the drain with my irises. I'd much rather lose some plants than someones life. The plants will hopefully bounce back and I'm going to cross my fingers that next year will be a wonderful bloom season, no hail, no storms, no high winds etc.
Do any of you ever have storms year after year that effect your bloom seasons like this? If so, how do you stay positive and keep pushing foreward for next years bloom season. Right now I'm close to wanting to throw in the towel. Too much work to be destroyed by a storm each and EVERY year. This is 4 or 5 years in a row that something major happens to my gardens. I'm about to get tired of it. MOTHER NATURE could you please be a little kinder to me next year, LOL
I doubt I'll be posting many more blooms this year unless some how my irises jump up from being beat to a pulp.
Wishing all of you a wonderful bloom season and no major weather issues.
