Here's my suggestion. I've had something like that happen, the leaves looked quite similar, almost like it had a case of scorch, and I'm thinking the plant was stressed. Is the rhizome buried? I see you have mulch around the plant, and irises usually don't do so well with mulch. I would recommend you cut back all the brown leaf areas and check to see if the rhizome is still firm -- you might have a case of bacterial soft rot starting. If so you'll need to clean out the mushy area as best you can (I just scrape it out with my thumbnail - yick!), maybe sprinkle some cleanser on it, but most of all expose the infected part to sunlight. If it's only on the top part you don't have to dig it up, just expose it to sunlight and do the cleanser thing or you could mix 3 Tbsp. liquid Softsoap in 1 gal. water and pour the mixture over the rhizome.
