Truly as long as the ground is not frozen you can dig and transplant anytime. Commercial growers wait 6 weeks after bloom to start as that is the best for our customers. I start digging after the 4th of July sometime and continue thru the end of fall (beardless) I do the in Sept.

I will start digging the commercial beds to remove them all from the ground, till, divide, trim, compost the field and start the replant in Sept.
