I have never needed to do any of that and neither do you since you live in the Springs. In November put a mix of Seed starter soil with native soil in 1 gallon pots then protect them from wind. Keep them moist till freeze and in spring after snow melts. Not wet only moist. May you should see seedlings. Keep moist untilthey have 4 leaves and plant where the can get attention. Start hardening off by giving less water except what nature gives unless you have weeks without rain then water. I give my kids a 25% mix of bloom buster when I plantout for stress and to give them a little boost.
