Ok, I will chime in too! Arlyn, so true....I love the suspense of waiting for my new iris to bloom for the first time. The Novelty of it is what we all crave. I think about how fun it must be for the hybridizers to see what new characteristics show up in their seedlings.
So hard for me to pick a favorite as well, but I go with what Tom said..... if someone said I had to only take one with me to heaven it would have to be my I. variegata. The blooms are not exotic but they have the beautiful foliage for the time they are not blooming. But what is most wonderful is their amazing smell of grape bubble gum that just fills my senses. The sense of smell is so gratifying!
