It seems like only yesterday Your grandchildren were small When they were only babies why, it seems no time at all. How they used to run to you and clamber on your knees, Bringing you at bedtime their favourite books to read. Remember how a scary dream would waken then in fright? You sat and held a tiny hand till half way through the night. You'd whisper words of comfort and wipe away their tears till sleep returned to claim them and banish childish fears. And now they are young adults see how the tables turned; Already they are teaching you more than you've ever learned. If you should need reminding of how the years have flown just look upon your grandchildren and see how well they've grown. by Pat Peterson Little Eaton, Derby |
