We came from here: http://cubits.org/kentucky/thread/view/5519/ Happy Valentine's Day! We've had a speedy warm up from some dreary winter weather, can spring be far behind? Let's start a new thread and make way for those green treasures that will soon be showing in our gardens. It's in the 60's this week. What could be better? Let's see what grows in your garden... ![]() |

Wasn't it great outside yesterday? I have a lousy cold, and thought a little sunshine would be good for me, so I took my sister's dog for a walk (we're dogsitting) and we both felt better afterwards. Today it's gray and windy out, but that's okay--no bitter cold and none of that white stuff! |
I just noticed that the last thread was up for nearly a year. How chatty are we this year? Living sustainably comes with learning to see the world in a new way. |
Chatty-er for sure. That's a good thing!! Actually we don't have great numbers of KY-ians here on Cubits....maybe they just haven't found us yet. |
Maybe we could put an ad in the paper? ![]() Than maybe not------ ![]() Its in the high 40's here in Somerset, but there is a breeze that is a little chilly!! Blue skies and my iris are staring to show green leaves. Tahlmorra lujhala mei wiccan (The fate of a man rests always within the hands of the gods) |

I watch this thread ![]() I've spent a lot of time in your beautiful state. You can adopt me ![]() I absolutely LOVE Kentucky! vic NATIONAL GARDENING ASSOCIATION Purslane & Portulaca ~ Garden Art |

Consider yourself officially an adopted Kentuckian, Vic!! Being a Kentuckian by choice is almost as good as being from KY. And now that you've baked one of Ninna's blackberry jam cakes, it's official. You can even change your screen name to VicKY! Ha. |
![]() Seriously, I've spent a lot of time in your beautiful state. Our whole family has. My mother's people are from southern IN and when they do their "big time" shopping, they go to Louisville. Hank never tires of looking at all the beautiful stones/rocks when we go home. I like them too but I also love your mountains, your rolling hills, the horse farms. It's just a beautiful beautiful state. The people have a lot to do with it too ![]() vic NATIONAL GARDENING ASSOCIATION Purslane & Portulaca ~ Garden Art |

Thanks, Vic. Big hugs. |

I was born in New Orleans, lived in Kansas, California, Ohio, and various other places while in the military, and ended up here in KY. So yeah, this is home. lol |
Whoa now...do I qualify? I've explored Ky from the eastern mountains, up to the northern part, back down, then all the way across to the west end, and done so several times. Most of that was on back roads, too (my fave!) Not too many years ago a Cajun family (I bet many of us know who I'm referencing) emailed me, thinking of leaving La and moving elsewhere to get away from hurricanes and stress. I told them NC is a great state, my area is growing too crowded though, and if I had my druthers I myself would move to Kentucky. Dang if that isn't what they did, now residing not far from Sharon. So ya see, not only have I explored the State, loving every bit of it, but I've been a spokesman for it. Ta-dahh! Shoe (longing for a trip to Kentucky again some day...) |
That you are, Shoe, and a better spokesman for KY I've never known. And said Cajun is now building a house, happy as can be in her new KY home! And no doubt our paths have crossed at one time or another since I've lived all the way across the state and climbed most every mountain and crossed most of the creeks in between. Welcome home, Shoe...anytime. Next time just let me know which plot you plan to land on and I'll meet you there. |
Uh, Shoe, we're still pretty remote on this side of the state ![]() You're over there in the triangle where all the action is ![]() Maybe it's time to get back to your roots, here in the mountains, where you grew up???? But yeah, Kentucky is just one totally COOL state! Love it... NATIONAL GARDENING ASSOCIATION Purslane & Portulaca ~ Garden Art |

I have lived in eastern Ky for 8 years now and I love these mountains 3 seasons a year but in Winter I sure do miss the bayou. We have had beautiful weather the last few days but the wind is blowing like a hurricane. I have been able to get lots done outside. Got the fence moved for the horse lot. Got the area ready for my tater and melon bags. Also got the 2 SFG beds ready to plant. Calling for rain tomorrow. Hope the wind blows it around us. Picked up a dozen eggs 2 days in a row now!! |

Sounds so good, Cajun! I just now finished reading about Tramp. You need to post a picture or two of him. He sure is a cutie! Lucky you and very lucky Tramp, even if his appearance is a mystery. |
Here is the little beggar. He's a cute thing and a smart little guy.![]() ![]() |
Thank you, he is beautiful. That face is something else. Bet he's got a story to tell! |
I just wish he could tell me where he came from. LOL |
What a cute little doggie! That's great that they are playmates! |
I hate my BC has to be tied right now but he went off twice after a female in heat up the mountain. I was so scared he would not come home. His hearing and eyesight are bad as he is coming 13 now and I was so scared he would walk out in front of a car. |
