Tell us about your gardens in Kentucky.
We have a mixed environment in this state. I can't grow the same things here in western KY that I grew back home in the mountains. We are much hotter and drier here.

So how do your gardens grow in your part of KY? Please tell us and share your garden photos, too.

Right now this is what my "garden" looks like. This is from back of property along east side fence and facing south. This is my sun garden. One the other side (west of the trailer) is all shade due to three maple trees. Property is 190 feet deep and 75 feet wide. All along this fence I want to plant hollyhocks, hibiscus, flowers that take sun. They will get some late afternoon shade. What do you think??

Need help!!

Where'd you plant that tansy I sent you, Marti?? It'll spread like wildfire before you know it!

Look at your garden as a blank canvas....I'll be watching it grow this summer, that's for sure.

The Tansy is in a container right now and is doing fine. I'm planning of planting in along this fence area. I just havn't planned exactly where everything will go yet. I'm gong to start the seeds in pots to move into the garden when I can.

I also have burgs to plant where I can protect them thru the winter.

My sister say I have to leave some grass to mow. She has a riding mower and does not want to sell it. So will leave her a little grass. If I had my way, I'd kill off all the grass and just have flowers and veggies.

Well, slowly my garden is coming together. I've been working on one area at a time. Mostly getting my 60 daylilies settled in. This is against the east side fence that runs the length of the property. Eventually this bed will be 4-5 feet wide.

Thanks for checking in, Marti. My daylilies are really flourishing this year, thanks to all the rain.

Between the two of us, it would be hard to say who can tell the tallest tales!

Wouldn't that be fun, though.

You get him over there and I'll get myself down there and we'll have ourselves a good time.

Except for working around his market, no problem.

He's been here enough he doesn't even need directions anymore.

I bet if I said fried chicken or Hank said fishing, he'd have those bare feet in his car lickety split Rolling on the floor laughing

Seems like maybe a fall trip to me.

How far are you from Nashville?

She's probably farther from Nashville than usual, after the slide on I-40 at the Tennessee-North Carolina border. Though they have one lane open, my son says it is still very slow going through there, as he did last weekend.

And in the end...a happy beginning!
Did someone say they are going FISHING for FRIED CHICKEN?

Maybe I just dreamed it. sheesh.

Yep, only a few hours from the famous Hank and Vic. I make it there only about once a year (unfortunately). (I wonder if they could take me showing up twice a year?)

Course now, me and Vic and Hank love to go camping, we all love Kentucky, and we all love laid-back get-togethers so who knows where we'd all meet, eh?

Now about them tall tales, I ain't much on tellin' untruths but have been accused of it from time to time. Why...I remember the time I was walking to the north and tripped over the Mason-Dixon Line, not realizing it was that high off the ground when, well, ♫ never mind.... ♫

Best to all,
Shoe (who's gotta go prop his bony legs up after a long day on pavement. It's so abnormal. The pavement, not my bony legs.) *grin

I'll meet you, Shoe, down around there somewhere...or maybe if you want to fish the lakes again, well...they're only just down the road a ways from me.

So...Vic and Hank....Shoe knows the way, sounds like a plan to me. I'll be looking for y'all say maybe bout October? Fish oughtta be bitin' then. We can have a campfire, tell a story or two....
