This is a special thread for our friend Sally, known here as Sunfarm. Sally....you are in all our hearts and it's for sure we are all dancing in the rain with you! ![]() |

HI Sally Hope you had a good day. It was raining here this morning and I went outside with my dog Smokey. The rain stopped a few minutes later and the sun came out. I thought of you when I was out in the rain. |
|

Sally, I too hope you're having a good day. I pray your pain is under control. Since I read your article, I have thought about you every day. It has rained here everyday since then, I think. And I think about you dancing in the rain. I mostly have been running in the rain. I've been trying to do some gardening in between rain drops, and the heavy rain always seems to hit when I'm in the back 40. But I stop for a moment and enjoy it, and think about you. You've touched a lot of lives, sweetie. |

Hi Sunfarm. Hope you are having nice moments in your days and enjoying the family and the farm. Do you get to look at the horses very much? Being with my animals helps to calm me when I am stressed. I think they are gentle gifts from a loving God. It rained here this morning and we needed it. It has been as dry a summer as the spring was wet. Has that been the pattern for the last few years? I thought you might know since you keep the weather records and report them. I picked a few ripe wine berries today and a squash. |

Good morning. Since you seem to have a different perspective than many others, I thought you might enjoy hearing about some of the more unusual plants my son and I are growing this year. Maybe you have even grown some yourself. Sharon has heard about these before, but I do enjoy telling about the adventures I have with my son Skye. Every year, I like to try a few different things in the veggie garden, and since my son has been helping me (he is 8 years old last week), we have had fun picking out plants to try together. Last year we grew spinning top gourds, and they were lots of fun. This year, we are trying bushel gourds that are supposed to grow fruits as big as a bushel basket. The plants and leaves are certainly huge so far, so I am looking forward to seeing how big the gourd gets, as well. We are also growing miniature multi-colored popcorn for the third year, saving seeds from one year to the next. Some other plants include rainbow carrots which have various colored roots, bright lights chard with many colored stems from pink, bright and dark red, yellow, white and green; also blue tomatoes that I got from Patti1957. A friend of mine just gave me some broom corn seeds which I just planted, so that should be interesting as well. It will be an interesting garden this year, with lots of color and unique character. We have also interplanted many flowers for extra color, including moonflowers that are being used to make a living play fort. I almost forgot the luffa sponges - not many people can say they grow their own sponges! Enjoy your day, as I am sure you will. Good morning, Sally! It drizzled on my head a few times when I was outside yesterday digging plants into the garden... I did a little prance & twirl while carrying pots of amaryllis between the patio and the bed... I think you'd have had a good laugh if you'd seen me! Hope your day is filled with gentle beauty. Circles of Support for Breast Cancer I'm learning to dance in the rain! Thank you, Sally & Chris & Sharon. |

Hi Sallly, I can't write as well as some of the others, but Sharron's post touched me so much, I have to try. I am from Letcher county Ky. but have been in Georgia for a lot of years. Growing up in the mountains is so dear to my heart. I love the green of the lands. Sally, it is raining here in Macon, Ga. right now and I just had to go outside to walk in it a little. I said a special prayer for you and twirlled around just for you. Honey, may your days be as pain free as possible and you just go into heaven smiling. That is how I imagine you. Just for you Sally. Taken after the rain stopped yesterday![]() |

Hi Sally, Donna grew up right alongside me, we even climbed the same mountains. Thinking of you today, and my daylilies are still glowing in the rain! ![]() |

Writing what you feel is always good, no need to apologize for any of it. Fancy empty writing pales in comparison to something heartfelt and sincere regardless of the style. There is a bug hiding suspiciously down in that daylily. Seems to me he looks a little like a Japanese beetle. Seems to me I'm going to have to get out in the middle of the rain and do something about him. I suspect he has a gang of friends hiding in all the other blooms. Sorry to send you a bug in your bloom, Sally. At least he can't crawl out of the picture. |

Beautiful day lily Sharon, despite the evil JB. We have them too ![]() Good Evening Sally - I hope you've had a wonderful day! Hugs dear friend - ![]() ![]() NATIONAL GARDENING ASSOCIATION Purslane & Portulaca ~ Garden Art |

When you can't get out to dance in the rain, try singing in the shower. When you can't sing in the shower, try humming in your chair. If you can't humm in your chair, close your eyes and smile, knowing the music and memories of dancing in the rain can still give you peace and joy. Know that all your friends are remembering with you and hoping that one day we will all be able to sing and dance in the rain together. ![]() |

Lightning bugs are out now, and my guess with the brownish and blackish pattern is maybe one of those. But if it is a Japanese beetle, they make good fertilizer and that is about it. Maybe it is a lightning bug. Maybe. It was dark and stormy enough out there today that he might have thought it was evening. Wonderful words, Zany. |

The bright yellow matches the glow, so maybe he felt a kinship. I must agree, wonderful sentiments Brenda. Hi Sally, I'm checking in late tonight. The time got away from me, as I was doing some business paperwork. I was out earlier watching the lightning bugs, how funny! It seems there are so many more of them this year. Here's a flower for you tonight. My prayers are with you, as always. ![]() |

My BIL's family is stopping over with us tonight, and we were outside at dusk chasing lightning bugs also! It's a good year for them. Not only are they everywhere in back, we're even getting them in the front yard and in the street! Circles of Support for Breast Cancer I'm learning to dance in the rain! Thank you, Sally & Chris & Sharon. |
