Look at yard sales, a lot of people are turning to freezing and I almost put Mom's pressure canner in a yard sale but realized my sister in law could still use it. The only thing that could ever go wrong with one of them is the little rubber seal, I think. I believe it has to be replaced after some years, but the old ones especially are made to really last.

You can also do what I call 'boiling water canning' without the pressure canner, here's a link, it might help:

Thank you. I have a wonderful friend that has given me nearly two bushels of apples. I have been cooking them and freezing them. Quite a chore.

Oh good heavens, Cheryl!! I knew you were going to tell me you made something wonderful with those apples and I knew it would be something I'd crave for a week when I heard about it.

It's been so long since I've had anybody to cook for I just never make anything like that simply for myself.

But I am so glad you are enjoying those apples and shame on me for not cooking very much. Good for you!! I'll just have to taste the memory of them.

I have been busy and haven't paid much attention to Facebook in months but since you haven't mentioned anything, I'm going to assume Steve is doing pretty well? I surely hope so because y'all have had some rough times recently.

Any chance you'll be making apple cobbler anytime soon?? Group hug

I have some apples in the crock pot right now cooking down for Apple butter. Since I found out I can process apples in a water bath, I will put some in jars. I have run out of freezer space and I got another three bags and four buckets of Apple's today. Most of them are golden delicious.

I had cooked some apples with butter, splenda and cinnamon a few days ago and I fried some apples and onions. I took some to an elderly lady from our church today. She is a diabetic also. She was very happy.

Steve has had some ups and downs over the summer. We are going through a very hard trial at church right now. You can read about it ion the prayer request forum on my cubit. We would appreciate prayers.

I had better get to be. I have a busy day tomorrow. We are trying to get ready for the Fall Festival at church on Friday. Praying the rain misses us.

I think in the busy-ness of my life, I forgot about your cubit. I am so sorry. We've always talked here and I guess that seemed to be enough. But I left you a message on the prayer thread and my heart and prayers will be with you through this week. I so understand the situation and I am so sorry. I'll be watching the thread .

Rest easy tonight, God is right there with you. Group hug

I got my Apple butter done and processed. It was fun and I feel so accomplished. I still have far to go with my apples so I need to get more jars. :)

I made tow loaves of pumpkin bread yesterday from my starter. I added fresh apples in place of some of the sugar. It was wonderful. Had a get together after church last night and I have a 1/2 loaf left. LOL But not to worry. I baked two .ore loaves this morning. But these are baked with pawpaws. A friend from church picked me us some pawpaws yesterday. Mine were all finished and I thought pawpaw time had passed. I was so glad to get more so I used some this morning and will bring him some bread. He is so good to us as is his family. He and his wife are raising their granddaughter because her mother was addicted. The child was addicted when she was born and she takes a good bit of meds because of it but she is a sweet child. She is 12 now and loves horses so I take her with me to the barn sometimes. She gets so happy she cries. Such a small thing means so much to her and I am glad I can do it. Our horses are in the ministry. LOL

I am fighting off a migraine this morning. It has been a long time since I have had one and I have not missed them.

I have a friend here who has a migraine and our weather is changing, seems like hers happen every time the weather makes a big change. I hope you feel better fast. I had migraines until I had a hysterectomy years ago and after the surgery I never had another one.

I haven't had ripe pawpaws or persimmons since I left the mountains and my grandmother used to make the best persimmon pudding, smooth and so good. I miss things like that. And you will be enjoying apple butter all winter long. Yummmm on biscuits with real butter!! I love apple anything.

Animals are always a part of any ministry, every body knows my Sunshine picked me up out of a dark corner a couple of years ago. She was a stray and I found her at the shelter. Amazing dog!

I outlived the headache! :) Many people in our family suffer from them. My childhood is a blur from one headache to the next. I had two and three a week most of my childhood. I had boric injections in the nerves to block the pain. It worked for a while but the doctor had to use more medicine each time and it got to a dangerous point.

I bought two dozen more jars last night. I am going to cook more apples to can. I feel so accomplished. I made four loaves of bread; two pumpkin apple and two pawpaw. It is delish. I will need to make four more loaves in nine days. I share a lot of it.

Glad the headache is gone and wow on your progress with all the foods.
Nine days, that means you have a bread starter??

I'll bet the people in your church love you so much.

It was sure pretty here today. I made the most of it. Worked in my garden for a while. It is about finished for the year. I pulled the rest of the peppers from one plant. That leaves me two to go. Picked the rest of the beans and pulled the plants. Weeded and worked the bed and I am considering planting some peas. I worked a little in the tomatoes and pulled the ones from the one vine that has died. They will ripen in the wash room.

How was your weather today?

Same for me, absolutely beautiful, and I got a lot of garden cleanup done too. So pretty and I have two trees turning now, but everything else is green. But I really didn't want the day to end. We are supposed to have a nice weekend and also a few sunny days next week, but it looks like the following weekend is going to be a winter story. So glad you had a good day too.

I am glad you were able to work in your garden. It is very satisfying. Winter will be here soon enough to hold us captive indoors.

I got a lot of work done today. Took the trash out, got the big dog some exercise, put the ponies out on the grass, cleaned out my freezer, did four loads of laundry, fed my four bread starters and went to sign class. I had to work around the drizzle but was able to get it all done. It was chilly today and looks like it will be the same tomorrow. We need to go to town tomorrow to get some things for church.

I hope you have a good day tomorrow.

Wow! I hope you have a good sleep tonight after your work today. Don't forget to take care of yourself, Cheryl!

It's warm during the days and pretty chilly at night now, but we've had some gorgeous sunshine. I'm mostly digging bulbs this week, Elephant Ears and gloriosas, everything else is just fine on its own. Cleaned out some pots and cleaned off my deck. Not much more to do.

I hardly have any flowers blooming but the trees are still mostly green. You can see the wind was blowing in these pictures. You have a really good tomorrow. Group hug Group hug Group hug

Are those morning glories? They grow like wildfire here and take over people's gardens. A friend has a really bad problem with them. They cover his tomatoes and pull them down.

It is cold here at night too. Into the low forties. Does not warm up much during the day either. Into the fifties. I hate cold weather and all indications are for heavy snow and cold this year.

I stayed in most of the day today. I made chicken broth and I baked four loaves of my bread. Two strawberry and two apple/pumpkin. The strawberry is by far the best I have ever made. I will definitely be making them again. I took two starters from each starter I used today. That gives me four for next baking in ten days. I hope to give a couple away. Making four loaves at once is plenty. I am going to freeze some for the holidays and make some for gifts.
