I never went to the prom, so I can relate more to the rocks, too, though I liked the prom dress story.
I have a box of seashells that have followed me around. I don't know how they ended up with me, but I just loved them when I was a kid. I had a seashell book and I identified as many as I could. The box itself pretty much fell apart so I don't have that anymore, but I still have the shells. Originally the shells and box were in the house that my grandparents moved into when my mom was a little kid. Whoever had lived there before had left them behind. I guess this would have been in the late '40s. Like I said before, though, I don't know how they ended up with me. I was all prepared when we went to Florida when I was 10. We went to Disney World and the beach. I preferred the beach because I could find all kinds of seashells. There are not a lot of different kinds of seashells in CA, but I have found a lot of colorful rocks and I have a couple small jars of beach glass.
