Hi Brenda!
I could very enthusiastically endorse the same comments towards you.. but, we both know this isn't about *us*! I think we respect the notion of appreciating an authentic self and the importance of a universal spirituality that touches all of us. And Divine Guidance. I just listen and I know you do, too. Brings on Peace. Happiness. When we're happy we're *open*. The opposite applies and I deliberately decided to not describe that state of mind.
Happiness!

I just found this thre and I like the 'being open' concept. To me it means accepting whatever comes, good, bad and ugly just as it is. There is always a positive in every negative. If we close our selves up and 'shut down' when the bad & ugly are here, we are shutting ourselves off from the positive that also comes from the situation.

My hubby and I are going thru some of the 'bad and ugly' now, but as long as we look for the positives each day we are coming thru just fine. I will admit that there are times throughout the day when I get overwhelmed, or down. I try to tell God that I have enough character and enough growth for one week....but apparently He still thinks there is room for more growth Hilarious!

AnjL, I often think that I am strong enough already! (In the "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" department, LOL!). Wishing you and your DH well... we sometimes have our issues as well. It's not always easy. But I find that the good in our partnership far outweighs the annoyances, and I know in my heart that I would miss my DH terribly if he were not with me. He is, after all, my closest and best friend, and we share so much. Sometimes I have to remind myself of these things... but I suppose maybe sometimes he might have to remind himself of my good qualities as well.

And then, sometimes you get through a challenge together, and you find that you are closer than ever, and you are so very thankful that you perservered. Wishing you all the best and beautiful, loving times ahead.

It's all about choices.
I have just found this thread too...and find it interesting.... Being Open.... What does that mean?...

My biological family was/is not open; everything was a game like playing Mindreading 101 (I always failed). I understood 'being open' when I met/married/lived with my husband, Bob. Bob plays NO GAMES.

I have come to respect that Being Open involves taking total responsability for yourself (words, actions etc.). And understanding that you are the ultimate designer of your life. When I am open and totally honest I feel refreshed. I can discuss complex issues because they are thoughts that I own. It is not about "because you.....", "you make me....".

Being Open also means, to me, that I am OPEN to other thoughts, other concepts, other ways of thinking that I have never embraced, yet. I met a neat woman today who is interested in shamanistic studies: that interests me....a thought process that inspires a people and allows them to live in harmony must have something going for it...I am OPEN to exploring it. This doesn't mean I have to buy every concept nor every process...but I am open to it for myself....

Being Open also means, to me, that any rigid exclusive and limiting thought/philosophy/believe has no place in my life. That there are NO absolutes...that there are boundless possibilities...

Hi Christi, I'm so glad you found us! Carol, what inspirational thoughts! Thank you for sharing. Here is my new favorite quote:

"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable."

Brenda, my thoughts exactly when it comes to security. I'd add: "The only absolute certainty in life is change." I'd give a nod to the author but I think it's me. Smiling
