Update on the quandary: We're taking the travel trailer from Munds Park to a small quaint park in Cottonwood. We'll outfit it for Lorne to live in while we search for more suitable housing. He'll be able to spend time here when he's not in classes or clinic and I'll - hopefully - be able to spend a bit of time there. The bad news (for me) is that I get to take care of the house and animals by myself. Sad Here's hoping this arrangement doesn't last too long. Send good wishes, please.

Hi Alma, so sorry I've been absent but life here has been very busy, so I haven't been on the forums much lately (I'm actually gardening!). Wow, lots going on with you! And ahhh, the mysterious missing crystal ball. I can't tell you how many times I've wished for that over the past few years. I'm glad you've found a temporary fix... and I'm hoping you find just the right answer for you and all of your loved ones. Living in your travel trailer for a while may be an excellent option... we have lots of folks here at our RV Park that live full time in their RV's. A bit cramped perhaps, but can you take your pets with you and live in that for a while with Lorne? Then you could rent out your house, maybe put some things in storage or something... you might find some 'freedom' in not being tied to a particular location. Wishing you well (and waiting for updates!)... a new adventure for you!

Hugs from me...

Brenda, good to know you're still there! With your wonderful summer weather, you must be having a great time gardening. Unlike here, ugh. We did finally have some - well, a LOT - of rain. It's either drought or flood...

We've made a trailer switcheroo since I last posted. For all the charm and incredible amount of storage in the vintage Argosy, we decided that it was not going to be easy to live in it. Lorne would likely find it tiring to sit at the table and study. And with both of us in it, it would set off my claustrophobia. So, we bought a bigger trailer with a double slide-out so there's more actual living room. And it has a nice size kitchen. No way does it have the engineering the Argosy does, but we have to try and make this work for Lorne to live and study. We're putting the Argosy up for sale - and will be a little sad to see it go, frankly.

We've looked at property there and found a couple of interesting ones, but unless we lease or sell this house, we can't make any deal. The money is just too tight. And prices here aren't (to my eye) making any movement upward. To sell now, we'd probably lose most of the investments we've made here. We may be stuck in this house and the trailer for some time, running back and forth as we can.

Anyhoo, here's the Mallard, all 29' of it parked in the same place we'd planned to put the Argosy. It barely fits, but it's pretty and quiet. Thumb of 2010-08-02/tomatofreak/0641a1

Okay, the Argosy is darling, but I bet you will appreciate having more room. The park you are staying in looks lovely... your view IS beautiful! Sounds like you are finding some excellent answers... I hope part of you is very excited! Now keep in mind, next time you're on the road in the Mallard, you can come up here and visit us! So will you be going back and forth, or are you going to be living in the travel trailer as well? What about your pets? And btw, I think you are right regarding real estate prices, I still pay close attention to the AZ real estate market and I don't see prices rebounding at all. If you can rent your house you may be better off.

We're having a lovely summer rain right now... we've been having monsoon showers every afternoon for over a week. Really nice, as they roll in and cool things off, water my gardens, then move on out.

Hugs from me...

I can't wait till we're able to actually go on the road in the trailer! So far, it's been haul and park. We never went anywhere in the Argosy; it stayed parked the whole time it was in Munds Park. Friends used it but we stayed in it all of one night!

We can't move the pets till we find a house with a yard - and we can't find a house with a yard till we do something with this one. I think renting it is the best option right now. Sadly, there's a great house on half an acre close to the school that would be perfect - just can't make a deal right now.

Lorne is waiting to get his schedule. You'd think they'd know what it is by now, but no. He has to go to a five-hour orientation on the 17th so we *hope* he'll learn what days he has off to come down here. He starts class on the 23rd. And I'm trying to find a responsible party to take care of the pets now and then so I can go up there. It's complicated. Rolling my eyes.

Not yet. My granddaughter is still here with her little son. She's supposed to be moving out sometime soon and I can't rent till then. Plus, we are trying to do a bit of painting and plan to dismantle the office. Can you say never-ending work??? Thumbs down

I've decided I have to a) hurry up and find a house here or b) find someone to stay at my house so I can spend more time here. It is so cooooool here this morning and even though the daytime temps are hovering around 100, it's still better than being in the blast furnace. And it's quiet. No sirens, no 24 hour traffic noise. Such a nice change from the city.

I think we may have to settle for a compromise situation. This is a big house soooooo... I think I'll look for a responsible animal lover to take the master bedroom that my GD vacated. Someone who can be counted on to care for the dogs, cats and birds a few days a week so I can spend that time in Cottonwood with the MOTH. It's not ideal, but it's do-able. Sometimes, you know,

You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime you find
You get what you need

Hmmmm, that has a familiar ring to it....
