Newfoundland is an incredible vast island, with some of the most incredible lighthouses. One of the last vacations I went on with my mother was to Newfoundland. She was as crazy about lighthouses as me, we had a blast.
This is the Cape Bonavista light. My daughter was fascinated watching the Puffins nesting on the rocks right off the coast there. We were actually able to see icebergs floating out in the north Atlantic!
When we were at this light, overlooking a bay, there was a small pod of whales circling. I don't know what kind, but it was really neat. One or another would surface just enough to breathe. Somewhere I read that some types of whales circle near the surface when feeding.
