This is the lighthouse on Anacapa Island, which is off of the coast of Ventura County, California and part of the Channel Islands National Park. It was built in 1932.

It is a pretty desolate location. This lighthouse is still used and is fully automated. The foghorn goes all of the time.

Thank you. I have a Canon G9. I got it a couple years ago. I really like it except that it isn't very good for distant shots, like mountains in the distance when there is also something in the foreground or middleground that I want to capture. Maybe if I learned to use all of the manual settings instead of just the auto and semi-manual, I would do better. Rolling my eyes. Actually, the Anacapa pictures were taken with the camera a had before that, a Sony something or other. The Sony didn't have "macro" capabilities.
