We came from here http://cubits.org/mikesclutteredmess/thread/view/5336/
Hopefully this will take me to where I want to go. I want to Thank Chris, for filling in for me during other difficulties. I want to welcome Caitlinsgarden, and ask her to please over look my "humanness", in the fact that I have not been able to reply, as soon as I should. I also want to say A Big Whew, for the mess we have had to go through, because of people error, in areas we don't belong. That said; Welcome back to the "Progress Reports" #2, and lets make this the best.
I want to say that I had company this past week, and all my best friend could do was look at what hadn't been done, and make his comments, but some how I expected it.
I now have two whole new garden spaces's, and am as gitty as a child, over the progress.

See what a difference a porch, and "neat up" can do. Mike

Hey Mike, just remember that some people have to point out others' shortcomings because they are so conscious of their own.

You have done an amazing job in a rather short time! Looks great!

Woofie, in this fellow's case, you are on the money. I met him at the age of 19, when I transferred into the 82nd Air Born Div., and he was impossible, to say the least.
He had married "miss homecoming Queen", and put that woman on a pedestal, that she was most uncomfortable with, and kept her there until her death 3 Yrs Ago.
Now he is very lonely, and depressed, and there is a sweet lady, that would make him a great wife, but talk about finding fault with someone, Gee! He is so cocky that he told me that his IQ, is more than 70 points above hers, and I told him how easy that was to over come, Heck, Barbara hasn't had any problem being 75 points above me.Hey, we can communicate.
I will be going up to visit him on the 24th, and I am going to have to take the bull by the horns. I remember his wife, and her greatest moment, was something that happened in high school. Please. He is to the right of me, and I'm standing back farther. Mike

Well, I'm not too impressed with people who feel it necessary to tell you how high their IQ is. That doesn't mean they KNOW anything. Hilarious! Besides, no one knows it all and you can learn something from just about anybody. That is, if you take the time to listen.....people who don't or won't listen, can't learn. Ha ha, maybe that sweet lady you mentioned would be better off not making him a good wife? Hmmm? (Teasing here; if he's your friend he must have some redeeming social value! Smiling )

I would love to be able to "carpenter" some more storage space, unfortunately, small bookshelves with National Geographics as end supports are about my speed!

There are always concrete blocks and also bricks. LOL! That is more my speed.

But of course! I did this for many years until I took the bricks out to use in the garden. An all-in-one piece shelving has the advantage that you can attach it to the wall so it won't tip over. In my studio I just made a narrow shelving unit that sits on a counter and is attached to another shelving unit at right angles. I use it for coffee jars of mosaic tiles, china bits, etc. so that I can find what I need easily. Picture coming up.

Barb, this is the guy, who would pick up any possibility, from the road, or what ever resource I could find an object, and most things have possibilities. I acquired these treats over a life time, of more than 50 years, and found himself a slave to his holdings.
If any one feels that they are possessed by their stuff, that they have been hording, to the point that you can't find it, or ever find a use for it, then you might want to join us, in becoming less cluttered.
I decided to take on this Cubit, because I had no knowledge, of how to manage this stuff, or keep it from possessing me. I got the Idea of a dear one, who was under drugs, and alcohol, and I had considered her a total failure. When She got tired of the substance controlling her life, She made up her mind to go to find help, and that was "Alcohalic annomus", and I watched her make the biggest change, I could have ever imagined. She just had her 10 birthday, of sobriety, and it works, because addicts, are helping addicts, so I figured, why wouldn't it work for someone who is addicted to junk. So we are kind of supportive of each other, in getting uncluttered.
The first time I got rid of something, (Old farm equipment), that was covered over with honeysuckles, and in the process I found where the old fencing material, had rotted down, and that made a rich growing bed. Here is the results of the once junked area;

mike are you married? my sister might want to marry you if you're not. lol i think yall are observant people myself. she sees something and immediately she knows what it is and what it was used for. then she sees it in a new light and if she'd only go right then and "create" her work of art she'd prob. be rich right now. i hope in a couple years when she retires that she will be able to finally get to do something she would love to do and that would be to turn all those objects into objects of beauty.

my sister can't stop herself from a new piece of junk. BUT if my sister only had time to work on all those projects she would turn each and every thing into a work of art. i bet your stuff is like that too.

so is everyone here trying to "quit" collecting new clutter? or are we glorifying it? i'ma grinnin'. the way i see it is if you got the room to keep the stuff i see nothing wrong with it. sort of like having your very own museum. Big Grin

Too Cluttered

I have awakened to the realization that I am owned and addicted to my own clutter. I am not at all an expert on much, and certainly not this subject. I feel like if we can just admit that there is a problem..together we can over come. Mike
