I haven't read a lot of the authors you mention, but I'm also a fan of Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Katherine Kurtz, and J.K. Rowling. You might try C.S. Lewis' cosmic trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength). I haven't read them since I was a kid but I remember enjoying them. They're quite different than the Narnia books and more adult oriented but still quite good (as I remember them at least) Have you read Tolkien's Silmarillion? I remember trying it and couldn't quite get through it, but I think I was 10 at the time so it may be worth another try now that I'm grown up! LOL Some other authors I enjoyed...the caveat is most of these I read when I was a kid and haven't re-read since then (due to lack of time, not lack of interest) Anne McCaffery's Dragonrider series Katherine Kerr Patricia Kennealy Morrison Ursula K Le Guin Rosemary Sutcliff Guy Gavriel Kay |
