Hey Kathleen, glad to see you over in this building. Yep, that big rock is almost to the top of Jules hike, couldn't make it any farther. I knocked the batteries out of my camera and Heather helped me straighten it out then took my picture. Hiding behind my sunglasses makes a good picture.
I'm still talking about the great time I had on their farm.

Hurray!

Are there instructions for mosaics somewhere? I have searched the web, done a few trial and error projects (need I say they were all errors?) and really really really want to do this!
I have glass, I have nippers, I have patterns, I have ideas....what in the world do I do?
I would like to do some designs on plastic, others on concrete...I just don't know where to start.

this was just started by Gourd..

This is a copy of a message that Dave posted about the possible closing of Cubits on Friday, May 28, 2010. Please pray for a positive outcome. My email address is [email protected] but this will change once this one is shut off. Please send me your personal email address so I can notify you of my new one and so we can keep in touch until we can be together again. I will be offline for a while until we get the internet hooked up at the new place. I will try to get on here tomorrow to get everyone's email before or if Cubits goes offline Friday.

From Dave:

"I received a letter from Internet Brands today, and it was a cease and desist.

My employment agreement with NameMedia says many things, among them that I won't compete with NameMedia for a certain length of time. My doing cubits.org can easily be seen to be a competitor of Dave's Garden, but this is no problem because DG is no longer owned by NameMedia.

So, I'm not competing with NameMedia since DG is owned by someone else now. I have been very clear and public with this position. I even posted several times on DG that I do not feel like I am obligated to not compete against DG and that position was never challenged until today.

The letter from IB, however, claims that my employment agreement with NameMedia has been assigned to IB and that my agreement is with them.

Now, that's possible, but I had never been notified until today that this was the case.

They are telling me that I must shut down cubits.org by this Friday or else they will bring a lawsuit against me. They say that: "If you do not comply, we intend to pursue you for all damages you have caused, which based on our initial review of the matter appears to be well in excess of $1,000,000."

I have a call in to NameMedia as well as the general counsel at IB, to get confirmation that my employment agreement was indeed assigned over to IB. If it was in fact assigned, then there's nothing I can do and I will have to shut down cubits.org per their demands.

I think we should all prepare for the worst. I think that in the end of the day, big business is going to win and the rest of us are going to lose."

I'll try to keep you all posted.

Thanks for posting the letter Tami. I'm still a member of DG, but have grown to love it over here and will miss it so very much. I feel like I've lost a dear friend.

Dear Dana, I hope you don't mind my posting this here, if you do, please delete it. If you don't, please forward it on. I recommend a boycottt of DG starting tomorrow at noon for as long as it takes, look and read but don't post. Let's see what happens when they have no active members. Spread the word. Off to the thrift store in the morning, maybe I will find some more treasures to use in mosaics. I do have some nice tiles for in the center, and have lots & lots of glass globs. I have enough "stuff" for a lot of projects, just get myself motivated to start.

Elaine, you have so many terrific ideas!

I had to take a couple books back to the library, so I had the girl point me to the craft section. So many many books, finally found 3 on mosaics that I think will be great. First one is The Complete Book of Mosaics, a Readers Digest book, 2nd one is Mosaics for the first time and 3rd one is Quick and Easy Mosaics. Now I have some serious reading to do, plus I'm going to have to scan some pages for future reference. If this and all your great instructions doesn't work for me, I think I'm a lost cause. In front of the library is a huge mosaic all from tiny tiles. One day I will take my camera with me and take a picture of it. Group hug
