I had a Biology teacher in College that said his definition of a weed was, "Any plant grow where you don't want it!"

He was telling us that there are places in Hawaii where they burn Coleus because it is a weed to them.

Truth should be everpresent.
Everything in moderation seems to be a good rule of thumb. Orange daylillies, mimosa and redbuds are like that around here.

loved your Mackinaw photos, firefly.
Earlier this month we hiked the Matanuska Glacier. It's about 60 miles from home, here in Palmer, Alaska. The best weather in ages, too.Thumb of 2011-07-01/kaglic/f235d6

A couple more of glaciers in our area.
The first photo also shows the lake created by the melting glacier.

I encourage you all to come see~it's still amazing to me even after 33 years here~we moved up from Calif. and it's been great.
Tidewater Glacier~Whittier, Alaska. This glacier is seen from a tour boat; about 100 miles from home. We drive to Whittier, then join the tour.

An Alaskan cruise in on my list, too. We'd fly to Seattle, then cruise back up and be home:)
Cruise ship docked in Seward, Alaska. It's about 180 miles from home; we park RV at the shoreline park; built bonfires, watch all manner of boats come into port and visit the nearby Exit Glacier.
