Thumb of 2011-03-10/valleylynn/5b5523

New thread we came from here http://cubits.org/notfortheserious/thread/view/51714/

There are now two spreadsheets divided between people wanting March 28 and people wanting May 9.
March 28 is here http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AjtJV24Qke7SdEpqbVd4...

May 9 is here http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AjtJV24Qke7SdFBneE15...

There is a 3.00 order fee for this sale and a 60 cent PER ITEM ( a 3-fer is 1 item) packing charge.

Shipping dates from the company to me.
march 28
may 9

I need to make this statement again.............Bluestone will not recognize any one but me should the order go wrong. If when the plants arrive at my house and I deem them satisfactory Bluestone's obligation ends. Last year I prob. had 6 or so plants that were bad when they got here. Bluestone replaced only those plants. Once I sent the rest as far as I can remember no one reported plants arriving dead. There were some reports though of echinacea dying later. One person had several that died I think. There is no recourse from that point. You may not call Bluestone saying your plants died. You will not even be in their system so they will have no record of you or your order. My guarantee to you is that you will have live plants upon receipt only. Just need for everyone to be aware of this.

We have the same discounts this year as last. They are as follows:
3 fers..........50% off
Single plants........25% off
Complete gardens......no further discount. Priced as marked on the site.

When you order please state which shipping date you prefer. If you choose the March date all orders will need to be in by this Sunday.....think it's Mar. 6. As soon as we get the shipping total from Bluestone we will begin the payment portion for the early people only.

If you choose the May date for shipping orders may continue until prob. the end of March. Also if you are a latecomer after we close on Sun. you may still order but after sun there will only be one shipping date most likely. If orders grow to the extent that I am worried I will either close the sale early or ask for a 3rd shipping date from Bluestone.

shipping totals sat. apr.9

My order looks good. I have two columns which I assume is because of separate call in order dates.

this is spring break week. kids are home. lots of home jobs. i will talk to lois tomorrow and either me or debra will send that spreadsheet info for the first shipment. and i will make sure lois gets the add ons.

no more changes on the early shipment spreadsheet. you all should have checked your orders by now and i presume it is correct.

The spreadsheet says I have a total of 6 plants.I should actually have 14 plants because the sweet woodruff was 4 sets of 3 fers.
Also, when should I post payment?

the number of plants is listed by sets

i.e. 3 fers are counted as 1
singles are counted as 1

so you have 4 sets of 3 and 2 singles, thus the spreadsheet shows 6 plants for you

You will receive 4 sets of 3 (12 plants) and 2 singles (2 plants) or 14 actual plants.

hows that for an explanation.

also as mama said the boxing fee is based on the number of 'sets' not the number of plants, so you are charged $.60 for 6 ($3.60), not $.60 x 14 ($8.40)

Uhhhmmmmm mama, Yes, you should plant your tomato plants. We all know that right after the first person plants their tomatoes, we get 1 more freeze. So we should all be able to plant a few days after you do. Rolling on the floor laughing

Barb -- how big are the plants? I've done small seedlings and covered them with the top half of the milk jugs from my winter sowing. worked well for me the year i planted them out early. you could also use 2Ltr bottles... the hole in the top you'd use as the vent. i'd uncover on warm days and cover for wind and cold.

but 170 plants... that would be a chore.

Totes or cardboard boxes for over night protection?
Stakes in the ground with a blanket, or plastic over the stakes?

I have also used the milk jugs, there work really well. In the morning after frost is gone I would take the jugs off and place beside each plant for the next time I might need them before summer weather is insured.

Ok mama, on a serious note...I plant 2 weeks before everyone else which is April 1st for me.

This is my secret and it has never let me down...

You have a huge amount of plants compared to me and I dont know how big they are but this is what I do.

Take a round clear (gatorade or Hawaiian punch) container...throw the cap in the garbage...cut off the bottom 1/2 inch of container...plant tomato and water then put container over the top of plant. It works like its own terrarium, it will get hot and drippy on the inside but protects from 30 degree weather and above. If the leaves get big enough to touch the side, they can get freeze burn. I leave mine on for about 3-4 weeks and they are soooooo very happy. Smiling
